Microsoft<\/a>\u2019s price hikes across Xbox<\/a> consoles has led to some bleak comparisons, as Sony<\/a>\u2019s PS5<\/a> Pro suddenly looks more enticing.<\/p>\n Despite sales of the Xbox Series X\/S<\/a> being far behind that of the PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch, Microsoft has raised the console\u2019s price dramatically<\/a> in light of adverse \u2018market conditions\u2019.<\/p>\n This worldwide price hike, which came into effect on May 1, is part of a wider increase across other video game hardware, following revised US tariffs. Nintendo has had to bump up the price<\/a> of Switch 2 accessories, while Sony increased the price<\/a> of the PlayStation 5 in the UK, Europe, and Australia (although, as of yet, not the US).<\/p>\n While Nintendo and Sony appear to be trying to soften the blow, at least in their messaging, the new price for the Xbox Series X\/S has soared above any rational explanation in the US.<\/p>\n Over in the UK and Europe, the damage isn\u2019t so bad. The Xbox Series X will now cost \u00a3499.99\/\u20ac599.99, an increase of \u00a320\/\u20ac50. The 512GB Xbox Series S has gone up \u00a350\/\u20ac50 to \u00a3299.99\/ \u20ac349.99, while the 2TB Xbox Series X model is up \u00a340\/\u20ac50 to \u00a3589.99\/\u20ac699.99.<\/p>\n It\u2019s a very different story in the US, where the Xbox Series X is up a massive $100 at $599.99. I\u2019m not defending Xbox no more. It\u2019s over,\u2019 another stated.<\/p>\n Beyond the consoles, Microsoft has also said the price of some games will increase to $80 at the end of this year.
