One of Bristol’s trendy <\/a>shipping container restaurants has announced closure due to “ongoing cost pressures”.<\/p>\n Daily Noodles confirmed today (Saturday, January 17) that it has closed at Wapping Wharf,<\/a> leaving loyal diners “gutted”.<\/p>\n The popular noodle bar <\/a>had become a staple at the Cargo site since opening in 2022 and was renowned for its Katsu curry, but said the loss of its sister stall at St Nicholas Market had been a blow to finances.<\/p>\n It was originally set up by former Master Chef finalist and Woky Ko founder Larkin Cen<\/a> but has been employee-run since December 2024.<\/p>\n Their announcement on Instagram this morning read: “Goodbye from Daily Noodles. We are very sad to announce that, due to ongoing cost pressures caused by the forced closure of our St Nicks Market stall, Daily Noodles has now ceased trading and we have closed our Cargo site.<\/p>\n “We would like to thank all our fantastic customers for their support over the years. It really meant the world to us, and we will truly miss you all. With love from us all at Daily Noodles.”<\/p>\n A BristolLive reviewer hailed the restaurant as “unforgettable” back in 2024<\/a>, with other diners also leaving glowing reviews online.<\/p>\n Commenting on the Instagram post, one customer wrote: “Your katsu curry has got me through some very dark times. I\u2019m so gutted to see you go. You will be missed.”<\/p>\n Another agreed: “So sad to hear this! absolutely loved your food!”<\/p>\n Daily Noodles’ stall at St Nicholas Market closed in summer last year after the locks were reportedly changed. At the time they said: “On 1st August, we lost access to our St Nicholas Market stall through no fault of our own. It was a heartbreaking setback, but we\u2019re not giving up.<\/p>\n “Without a new site soon, our business will not survive.<\/p>\n “That would mean closing our doors for good, ending an employee-owned venture that gives local people the chance to share directly in the success of their work. We\u2019re actively searching for the right location, and if you know of a potential site, please get in touch.”<\/p>\n Unfortunately, it seems new premises could not be found and Daily Noodles remained closed at St Nicholas Market, with the Wapping Wharf restaurant now following.<\/p>\n It follows several closures last year at the much-loved neighbourhood on Bristol’s historic floating harbour, which boasts some of the best bars, restaurants and lifestyle shops in the city centre.<\/p>\n Departures in 2025 included Tare Bistro <\/a>and the Bristol Cheesemonger<\/a> but there were also new arrivals such as Lapin <\/a>and Ragu<\/a>.<\/p>\n Cargo transformed a previously neglected area<\/a> into a foodie destination using shipping containers, converted into shops and restaurants.
