An air rifle and machete were discovered after police stopped a car in south Belfast.<\/p>\n
Two men are in custody after the incident in the Agincourt Avenue area of Belfast last night.<\/p>\n
A quantity of drugs was also found by police linked to the same incident.<\/p>\n
Sergeant Kennedy said: “Officers on patrol in south Belfast stopped the vehicle after checks on police systems showed that it was uninsured.<\/p>\n
“When they spoke to the driver, a 27-year-old man, he disclosed that there was an air rifle in the boot of the car. A subsequent search uncovered a number of other items including a machete.<\/p>\n
“He was arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including possession of an offensive weapon.<\/p>\n
“Tactical Support Group colleagues then searched a residential address. A quantity of suspected class A and class B drugs were seized, along with cash.<\/p>\n
“A second man, aged 21, was arrested on suspicion of a number of drug related offences including possession of a class A controlled drug with intent to supply.<\/p>\n
“Both men remain in custody at this time, assisting with our enquiries.\u201d<\/p>\n
