Sheffield-based national charity,\u00a0Support\u00a0Dogs, is celebrating after receiving a \u00a315,000 donation from The Health Lottery Foundation.<\/p>\n
Support\u00a0Dogs\u00a0provides life-saving and life-changing services for children and adults affected by long-term medical conditions. <\/p>\n
For more than 30 years it has achieved this by providing specialist assistance\u00a0dogs\u00a0for autistic children, as well as for people with epilepsy or a physical disability.<\/p>\n
The funding awarded is from The Health Lottery Foundation, which distributes money raised by players of The Health Lottery.<\/p>\n
The purpose of The Health Lottery is to raise money to improve the health and wellbeing of people across Britain.<\/p>\n
Danny Anderson,\u00a0Support\u00a0Dogs\u2019 head of fundraising, is looking forward to using the money awarded to provide more\u00a0dogs\u00a0to change the lives of even more families.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cWe are excited to receive this funding and look forward to being able to fund an instructor to\u00a0support\u00a0our services for our disability assistance programme.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s come at a fantastic time, as this grant will enable us to deploy funds to this area, while we push on with our Capital Appeal to raise \u00a32.4m for our new headquarters, Elsworth House, near Hillsborough.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Health Lottery Foundation currently\u00a0supports\u00a0projects that work across six key areas including: chronic disease, disability inequity, health disparity, healthcare IT, preventative care and young people.<\/p>\n
Delva Patman, chief executive of The Health Lottery Foundation, explained: “By focusing on six themes, we aim to\u00a0support\u00a0projects across a wide breadth of society.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll sorts of organisations will be eligible to apply, from small community projects to national charities. <\/p>\n
“We will allocate funds where we think the money can make the biggest impact. <\/p>\n
“We are looking forward to hearing more from projects in Britain delivering vital work to\u00a0support\u00a0health and wellbeing.\u201d<\/p>\n
Health Lottery players have raised more than \u00a3134 million for good causes over the past decade.<\/p>\n
