Picture: Kent Cricket<\/p>\n<p>Muthusamy made headlines in November, scoring his first Test century for South Africa against India, with 109 at Guwahati on the way to the Proteas\u2019 2-0 series win.<\/p>\n<p>Durban-born Muthusamy has 10 first-class centuries to his name in his career, spanning 115 appearances and, in T20 cricket, has 81 career wickets at an economy of 6.62.<\/p>\n<p>He was part of South Africa&#8217;s squad for their World Test Championship final at Lord&#8217;s against Australia in June, only to miss out on a starting XI spot, as they were five-wicket victors.<\/p>\n<p>On signing for Kent from May 22 until the end of 2026, Muthusamy said: \u201cI\u2019m looking forward to the challenge of playing County Championship and Vitality Blast cricket for the first time at a club with a big history.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve heard a lot of good things about Kent from my team-mates that have played there before and I\u2019m relishing the opportunity to make contributions with bat and ball in a Kent shirt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"rthmb\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg xmlns=\" http:=\"\" viewbox=\"0 0 2026 1415\" alt=\"Jaydn Denly - it is hoped he will benefit from working closely alongside Senuran Muthusamy at Canterbury. Picture: Barry Goodwin<\/p>\n<p>Director of cricket Simon Cook said: \u201cWe\u2019re extremely pleased to have secured the services of a multi-format international talent for most of this coming summer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018Sen\u2019 is an extremely versatile player, able to bat across the middle and lower-order in Championship cricket. He will also be an asset for us on late-season surfaces that are usually more conducive to spin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the Vitality Blast, he also provides left-handed hitting options at the back-end of an innings, as well as an economical spin option through the middle overs, as we look to be competitive in multiple formats this season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOverseas players contribute in many ways beyond on-field performance. Picture: Keith Gillard<\/p>\n<p>Muthusamy is currently featuring in the SA20 competition for Sunrisers Eastern Cape, with former Spitfires Adam Milne and Beyers Swanepoel.<\/p>\n<p>Batsman Ben Dawkins has helped England start their under-19 World Cup campaign with two wins in Zimbabwe<\/p>\n<p>Dawkins offered 33 at the top of the order in a 37-run victory over Pakistan last Friday before 11 in an eight-wicket win against the hosts two days later.<\/p>\n<p>England were due to finish their run of Group B games against Scotland on Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A South African 2025 ICC World Test champion has agreed to join Kent.
