{"id":706984,"date":"2026-01-19T19:19:21","date_gmt":"2026-01-19T19:19:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/706984\/"},"modified":"2026-01-19T19:19:21","modified_gmt":"2026-01-19T19:19:21","slug":"new-calverley-library-opening-date-revealed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/706984\/","title":{"rendered":"New Calverley Library opening date revealed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"has-text-align-right\"><strong>By John Baron<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The new Calverley Library will have a phased opening from Monday, 2 February, council chiefs have confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>Calverley Library is moving from its current site on in Thornhill Street\u00a0into the nearby Mechanics\u2019 Institute in a bid to save Leeds City Council money.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"751\" height=\"560\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/615919301_1308177951355179_8510161362000778084_n.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-196496\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>The last day of opening at Thornhill Street will be Saturday, 24 January, and the new library will have a phased opening from Monday, 2 February.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson said: \u201cWe\u2019re really looking forward to moving into this beautiful historical building, which will provide a great brand-new space for our services.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/1000015822-900x675.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-177819\"  \/>Venue: Calverley Mechanics Institute, Photo: Anne Akers<\/p>\n<p>Installation of new library furniture was scheduled to begin today (Monday, 19 January) as part of the \u00a3213,000 refurbishment.<\/p>\n<p>While the library is closed, customers are being urged to access community hub and library services from Farsley or Pudsey.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/1000015825-900x675.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-177818\"  \/>Calverley Library.
