Stacey Dooley has opened up on a heartbreaking moment of her life as she shared her experience of suffering an ectopic pregnancy. The documentary maker is a familiar face on our TV screens, best known for her social-issue-themed documentaries. Away from the screen, Stacey lives in Merseyside with her partner Kevin Clifton.<\/p>\n
The couple met on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018. They triumphed on the show and went on to lift the glitterball trophy. They share a daughter named Minnie who was born in January 2023.<\/a><\/p>\n Stacey and Kevin<\/a> are active on social media and regularly share insights from their busy life in showbiz. <\/a>The couple starred in the hugely successful play 222: A Ghost Story, which arrived at the Liverpool Empire last year.<\/a><\/p>\n However, Stacey has recently opened up on a pregnancy loss. The 38-year-old required emergency surgery after experiencing an ectopic pregnancy last year.<\/p>\n Speaking on the “What\u2019s the Tea, Amy?” podcast with model and actress Amy Jackson Westwick, Stacey said she underwent surgery at Liverpool Women’s Hospital and felt in “capable hands” with the Scouse nurses.<\/p>\n Stacey Dooley and partner Kevin Clifton (Image: SJDooley Instagram )<\/p>\n Stacey said: “I fell pregnant last year, and it didn’t go brilliantly. I couldn’t talk about it for such a long time without bursting into floods of tears. But now I can. It was ectopic and it was all dramatic.”<\/p>\n She said: “It happened in Liverpool. And I was at Liverpool Women’s Hospital this time. Everything was quite dramatic and it was like ‘you’re bleeding internally’ and I had to go for immediate surgery.<\/p>\n “But Scousers, you can depend on them to just make you laugh even in the most severe of situations.”<\/p>\n Stacey said she felt at ease at Liverpool Women’s Hospital thanks to Scouse humour. She said: “I remember I was lying on the bed, about to go under, because it was all going t*** up.<\/p>\n “The girl goes to me, ‘here you are girl, have some lovely Scouse air’ as the mask was going on, as I was going under, and I thought do you know what, I\u2019m in capable hands.”<\/p>\n Podcast host Amy Jackson Westwick, whose parents are from Liverpool, added: “That environment, you know the Women\u2019s hospital, they are renowned for being absolutely amazing.”<\/p>\n Stacey and Kevin made the move to Merseyside<\/a> to be closer to Stacey’s mum and Minnie’s nan.<\/p>\n Since her move to Liverpool, Stacey has praised the people of Liverpool<\/a> and referred to herself as an “honorary Scouser” after friendly encounters in the city.<\/p>\n![\"Stacey](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1768877233_153_0_CaptureJPG.jpg\")
