A woman has suffered serious injuries after being hit by a lorry on a Birmingham<\/a> road.<\/p>\n

The woman, a pedestrian, was struck by a heavy goods vehicle at the junction of Alcester Road and St Mary\u2019s Row in Moseley<\/a> shortly before 3pm on Monday (January 19).<\/p>\n

All three emergency services were called to the scene at around 2.52pm.<\/p>\n

West Midlands Ambulance Service<\/a> sent an ambulance, two paramedics and the service\u2019s critical care car.<\/p>\n

They found a woman who was in a \u2018serious condition\u2019, gave her \u2018specialist trauma care\u2019 at the roadside before rushing her to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, a major trauma centre in Selly Oak<\/a> on blue lights.<\/p>\n

A spokeswoman for the ambulance service said: \u201cWe were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a lorry at the junction of Alcester Road and St Mary\u2019s Row in Birmingham at 2.52pm.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe sent an ambulance, two paramedic officers and the WMAS Critical Care Car to the scene.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn arrival, crews found a woman in a serious condition and began administering specialist trauma care before conveying her under emergency driving conditions to Queen Elizabeth Hospital<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

West Midlands Police<\/a> described the incident as a \u2018serious collision\u2019 and confirmed Alcester Road had been closed following the incident.<\/p>\n

A spokeswoman for the force said: \u201cWe are currently at the scene of a serious collision on Alcester Road, Birmingham, and a road closure is in place.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe road is shut between the junction with St Marys Row and Reddings Road.<\/p>\n

\u201cDrivers are advised to avoid the area and find alternative routes.\u201d<\/p>\n

West Midlands Fire Service attended the incident but referred to the police for further updates.<\/p>\n

National Express West Midlands confirmed two of its services were being diverted following the incident.<\/p>\n

It posted on X and said: \u201cService Disruption.<\/p>\n

\u201cCollision on Alcester Road South\/Salisbury Road, Moseley.<\/p>\n

\u201cServices 35 and 50 will be diverting in both directions via Queensbridge Road, Russell Road and Salisbury Road<\/p>\n

\u201cApologies for any disruption to your journey.\u201d<\/p>\n
