QPR defender Liam Morrison is having a medical at Aberdeen ahead of joining the Scottish club on loan, sources have told Football Insider<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old centre-back is keen on more playing time to give himself the best chance of breaking into Steve Clarke\u2019s<\/a> Scotland squad for the upcoming World Cup<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Aberdeen recently signed Lyall Cameron from Rangers<\/a> on a loan deal, and Morrison looks set to become their second addition of the winter window, after the Dons reached an agreement with QPR<\/a> for a loan deal until the end of the season.<\/p>\n

The defender has started just once in the league for the R\u2019s since early November, and he is now about to join Aberdeen\u2019s<\/a> push for a top-half finish in the Scottish Premiership<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Liam Morrison set for first taste of Scottish Premiership<\/p>\n

Aberdeen fans have grown frustrated with their club<\/a> amid a difficult start to the season, and they are currently on a six-game winless run in the league.<\/p>\n

They will be hoping that Morrison<\/a> can help to turn their fortunes around in the second half of the season, as he prepares for his first ever experience of top-flight football in his home country.<\/p>\n

The youngster has had a fairly unusual education in the game compared to what is typical for promising young players in Scotland.<\/p>\n

A former Celtic<\/a> academy prospect, the defender moved to Bayern Munich<\/a> in 2019, before the Bhoys were able to tie him down to a professional contract.<\/p>\n

He then featured 24 times for the German giants\u2019 reserve side in the regional fourth tier, before completing a move to QPR in the summer of 2024. <\/p>\n

Morrison managed twelve starts at the heart of the defence for the capital club in the early stages of the season, but has since become a regular unused substitute under boss Julien Stephan.<\/p>\n

Ex-Hearts manager John McGlynn is the favourite to take over at Aberdeen<\/a> after Jimmy Thelin<\/a> was sacked on 4 January.<\/p>\n

McGlynn<\/a> has led Falkirk<\/a> from the third tier into the Premiership in recent seasons, and currently has them sitting just inside the top half after promotion from the Championship last term. <\/p>\n

The 64-year-old is currently the leading candidate to take the reins at Pittodrie in the aftermath of Thelin\u2019s departure, with the likes of Markus Gisdol, Jens Berthel Askou<\/a> and Stephen Robinson<\/a> also in the frame. <\/p>\n
