<\/p>\nBirmingham City left it late to secure the win over Sheffield Wednesday but goals from Marvin Ducksch and Kyogo Furuhashi sealed the three points<\/p>\n

On the day Birmingham City splashed the cash on a new striker, their two signings from the summer netted important goals to beat Sheffield Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Danish frontman August Priske watched on at Hillsborough as Marvin Ducksch and Kyogo Furuhashi struck late to hand Blues three precious points in the Championship.<\/p>\n
As is often the case, the men in possession stepped up to send a message to their new teammate that they won\u2019t be surrendering their places without a fight.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s absolutely typical! It\u2019s funny how it all works but as long as they\u2019re going in,\u201d said boss Chris Davies.<\/p>\n
Ducksch has been Davies\u2019 preferred partner for Jay Stansfield this season and the German netted his seventh goal of the season against Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Now playing in his preferred position behind the main striker, Ducksch has four goals in his last four games.<\/p>\n
Davies commented: \u201cI\u2019ve played him as a nine most of the time but I’ve put him back as a 10 in the last four games and he’s been thriving in that role because he\u2019s a creative player with a good touch and good awareness. That was a real striker\u2019s finish.\u201d<\/p>\n
Equally pleasing for Davies was the sight of Kyogo rounding Murphy Cooper to slot home his first Championship goal on his 31st birthday.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s his birthday so we wished him a happy birthday before the game,\u201d said Davies. \u201cHe had a couple of chances before that but he\u2019s gone and taken the hardest one.<\/p>\n
\u201cEveryone is really pleased for Kyogo, you couldn\u2019t ask for a better professional. He gives his all every day and we\u2019re really pleased for him.\u201d<\/p>\n
