{"id":710371,"date":"2026-01-21T07:36:10","date_gmt":"2026-01-21T07:36:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/710371\/"},"modified":"2026-01-21T07:36:10","modified_gmt":"2026-01-21T07:36:10","slug":"angelina-jolie-marilyn-monroe-charli-xcx-films-set-for-glasgow-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/710371\/","title":{"rendered":"Angelina Jolie, Marilyn Monroe, Charli XCX Films Set for Glasgow 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/glasgow-film-festival-2026-truth-power-retrospective-sweden-1236423199\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Glasgow Film Festival<\/a> (GFF) unveiled the full\u00a0lineup for its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/glasgow-film-festival-2026-truth-power-retrospective-sweden-1236423199\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">22nd edition<\/a> on Wednesday, including films starring the likes of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/angelina-jolie\/\" id=\"auto-tag_angelina-jolie_1\" data-tag=\"angelina-jolie\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Angelina Jolie<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/marilyn-monroe\/\" id=\"auto-tag_marilyn-monroe_1\" data-tag=\"marilyn-monroe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Marilyn Monroe<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/news\/general-news\/johnny-depp-mel-gibson-helen-mirren-kviff-trailer-1235915501\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jude Law<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/willem-dafoe-marvel-david-lynch-platoon-trump-antisemitic-1236349256\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Willem Dafoe<\/a>, twice. The festival in Scotland will also feature 13 Scottish films and celebrate the life and work of Marilyn Monroe 100 years after her birth with \u201ca string of the icon\u2019s classic hits shown on the big screen,\u201d organizers said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tTaking place Feb. 25-March 8, the GFF will host 126<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>films, including 16<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>world, European and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/international\/\" id=\"auto-tag_international_1\" data-tag=\"international\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">International<\/a> premieres, 68 U.K. premieres, and 18 Scottish premieres, with titles from 44 countries, including 13 from Scotland.\u00a0As previously revealed, Scottish films will open and close the festival, with the U.K. premiere of Felipe Bustos Sierra\u2019s documentary\u00a0Everybody to Kenmure Street,\u00a0executive produced by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/emma-thompson-donald-trump-call-harry-potter-sex-joke-1236340362\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Emma Thompson<\/a>, kicking off the fest, while James McAvoy\u2019s directorial debut,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/james-mcavoy-california-schemin-1236352115\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">California\u00a0Schemin\u2019<\/a>,\u00a0wrapping it up. Both films were shot in Glasgow. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThis year\u2019s edition marks Paul Gallagher\u2019s first edition as head of\u00a0program.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAmong the GFF 2026 highlights are the U.K. premieres of such movies as Rebuilding\u00a0starring Josh O\u2019Connor,\u00a0high-fashion world film\u00a0Couture\u00a0featuring Angelina Jolie, relationship drama\u00a0Erupcja\u00a0led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/charli-xcx\/\" id=\"auto-tag_charli-xcx_1\" data-tag=\"charli-xcx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charli XCX<\/a>, political thriller\u00a0The Wizard of the Kremlin\u00a0with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/jude-law\/\" id=\"auto-tag_jude-law_1\" data-tag=\"jude-law\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jude Law<\/a>, Paul Dano\u00a0and\u00a0Alicia Vikander, as well as\u00a0Late Fame\u00a0and\u00a0The Birthday Party,\u00a0both starring Dafoe.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>The Scottish premieres set for Glasgow include Jim Jarmusch\u2019s Venice Golden Lion winner Father Mother Sister Brother\u00a0with Adam Driver and Cate Blanchett, Mark Jenkin\u2019s mysterious drama\u00a0Rose of Nevada\u00a0with\u00a0George MacKay and Callum Turner,\u00a0and dark thriller The Good Boy\u00a0starring Andrea Riseborough and Stephen Graham.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>Among the Scottish films in the program is the world premiere of\u00a0Molly vs The Machines, \u201cthe story of a heartbroken father\u2019s quest to uncover the truth behind his daughter\u2019s death,\u201d and the U.K. premieres of dark comedy\u00a0The Fall of Sir Douglas Weatherford, starring Peter Mullan, and\u00a0Midwinter Break, written by Bernard MacLaverty and starring <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/ciaran-hinds-ifta-2026-award-irish-academy-lifetime-honor-1236473356\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ciar\u00e1n Hinds<\/a> and Lesley Manville.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tGFF26 will also\u00a0showcase\u00a050 films not in the English language, with a total of 44 languages being represented in the lineup.
