{"id":712107,"date":"2026-01-22T02:31:15","date_gmt":"2026-01-22T02:31:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/712107\/"},"modified":"2026-01-22T02:31:15","modified_gmt":"2026-01-22T02:31:15","slug":"david-chipperfield-designs-ceramic-skyscraper-in-miami","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/712107\/","title":{"rendered":"David Chipperfield designs ceramic skyscraper in Miami"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"852\" height=\"479\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/miami-design-residences-miami-david-chipperfield_dezeen_2364-hero-852x479.jpg\" class=\"attachment-article_large_image size-article_large_image nolazy\" alt=\"Miami Design Residences\" decoding=\"async\"  data-pin-nopin=\"true\"\/>\t\t    <\/p>\n<p>London studio <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/david-chipperfield\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">David Chipperfield Architects<\/a> has designed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/skyscrapers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">skyscraper<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/miami\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Miami<\/a> clad in fluted ceramic columns that will be &#8220;the very first residential offering&#8221; in the city&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/miami-design-district\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Design District<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Located at 39 NE 39th Street, the Miami Design Residences tower will span 26 storeys across &#8220;nearly&#8221; 2 acres and contain 143 &#8220;impeccably crafted&#8221; condominiums, along with levels dedicated to a luxury hotel, according to the development team.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2288940 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/miami-design-residences-miami-david-chipperfield_dezeen_2364_col_2-852x1226.jpg\" alt=\"Miami Design Residences\" width=\"1642\" height=\"2364\"  \/>David Chipperfield Architects has released designs for a Miami skyscraper<\/p>\n<p>Renderings show a tower made up of two main volumes. The entirety of the building is wrapped in terraces, while white-coloured <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/ceramics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ceramic<\/a> columns run up its length.<\/p>\n<p>The crown and lobby of the building are pictured as double-height floors, while planters are distributed around the terraces.<\/p>\n<p>According to the team, its design will &#8220;reflect Miami&#8217;s distinct light&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2025\/12\/10\/miami-supertall-skyscraper-waldorf-astoria-hotel-residences-construction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"191\" height=\"191\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/waldorf-astoria-hotel-residences-miami-construction_dezeen_2364_sq-191x191.jpg\" class=\"excludeLightbox wp-post-image\" alt=\"Waldorf Astoria Hotel &amp; Residences\" decoding=\"async\" data-pin-nopin=\"true\"  \/><\/p>\n<p> Miami&#8217;s first supertall skyscraper reaches halfway mark on path to be tallest in Florida\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;[The design] is guided by David Chipperfield Architects&#8217; signature architectural clarity and expressed through bespoke ceramic exterior columns designed to capture and reflect Miami&#8217;s distinct light,&#8221; said the team.<\/p>\n<p>The interiors will contain custom cabinetry and other details that will &#8220;embody Miami Design District&#8217;s forward-thinking spirit&#8221;, according to the team.<\/p>\n<p>Renders also show a brass-coloured entrance pavilion and window mullions.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2288938 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/miami-design-residences-miami-david-chipperfield_dezeen_2364_col_0-852x852.jpg\" alt=\"Miami Design Residences\" width=\"2364\" height=\"2364\"  \/>Ceramic columns run the length of the building<\/p>\n<p>The project is being developed by\u00a0local firm <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fortpartners.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fort Partners<\/a>, equity firm <a href=\"https:\/\/raycliff.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Raycliff Capital<\/a>, local organisation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.miamidesigndistrict.com\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Miami Design District Associates<\/a>\u00a0and global investment firm <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constellationhospitality.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Constellation Hotels Holding<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Miami&#8217;s Design District, the city&#8217;s most vibrant, avant-garde neighborhood, will soon receive its very first residential development,&#8221; said the team.<\/p>\n<p>It is &#8220;currently underway&#8221; in the city and marks David Chipperfield&#8217;s first residential project in Florida. The British architect <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2023\/03\/11\/david-chipperfield-pritzker-architecture-prize-this-week\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">won the esteemed Pritzker Architecture Prize<\/a> in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>It joins a number of other projects in the developing Design District, which has become a hub for retail and cultural projects. This includes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2023\/11\/30\/kengo-kuma-mirai-retail-miami-design-district\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a retail development by Kengo Kuma<\/a>, while stores for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2023\/11\/30\/kengo-kuma-mirai-retail-miami-design-district\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bvlgari<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2025\/10\/28\/diller-scofidio-renfro-cartier-flagship-miami\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0Cartier have recently opened<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Several residential skyscrapers are also under construction in Miami, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2025\/12\/10\/miami-supertall-skyscraper-waldorf-astoria-hotel-residences-construction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the city&#8217;s first supertall skyscraper<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2025\/03\/24\/residences-1428-skyscraper-acpv-architects-under-construction-miami\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">an Arquitectonica tower with a &#8220;solar backbone&#8221;<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The images are by <a href=\"https:\/\/mrpstudios.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mr P Studios<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>                <strong>New!
