Reviews are in for Michelle Keegan<\/a>\u2019s new BBC <\/a>drama Ten Pound Poms and whilst the show itself has seen mixed feelings, there is one thing about it that\u2019s certainly due praise. Keegan\u2019s on screen outfits, inspired by the series\u2019 1950s setting, show off the best of the era\u2019s fashion <\/a>and are sure to delight any vintage lover in the audience.<\/p>\n

The show follows Michelle Keegan\u2019s character, Kate Thorne, a medical practitioner who has moved to Australia. The 1950s drama is meant to reflect the real-life stories of British immigrants who travelled to Sydney in 1956 in want of a better life.<\/p>\n

The official synopsis for season 2 reads: “After a challenging first year in Australia, series 2 follows nurse Kate Thorne (Michelle Keegan) and the Roberts family (led by Faye Marsay and Warren Brown) into 1957 on their adventure Down Under, each determined against all odds to achieve their slice of the Australian dream.<\/p>\n

“As Kate, Annie and Terry settle into their new lives, they each struggle to reconcile their hopes for the life they were promised with the harsh realities they face at Galgownie.”<\/p>\n

As well as exploring some heart-breaking themes, the show also shows off the styles of the day from casual Capri pants to the dramatic flare of full circle dresses that have come to be synonymous with the era.<\/p>\n

More relaxed outfits feature cardigans and trench coats (very on trend even today) whilst others see stunning tea dresses and bright floral full length numbers.<\/p>\n

Their website shows a preference for 40s and 50s inspired looks with full skirts and era-inspired tailoring so you certainly won’t be short of choice.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re in the area or happy to travel a little further for your dream dress, The Vintage Corner in Waterloo<\/a> has a striking collection. With a high fashion feel, it is home to some vintage designer finds and plenty of brightly coloured and patterned pieces.<\/p>\n

The Secret Parlour is an online shop based in Liverpool. They have new arrivals to their website every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday and also put up new eBay auctions on Mondays and Thursdays. Sleeves, collars and cinched waists are in big supply with unique and true vintage styles on offer.<\/p>\n
