Currently, farmland and related buildings can qualify for 100% relief from IHT. However, new rules coming in 2026 will cap this relief at \u00a31 million per estate, and any excess will be taxed at 20%. As a result, farmers are now scrambling to find new ways to bring in <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" title=\"Grieving families hit by surge in Inheritance Tax probes\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/finance\/personalfinance\/2049292\/grieving-families-hit-surge-inheritance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">money before IHT must be paid<\/a>, such as by turning their land into campsites for visitors.<\/p>\n<p>Farmer Richard Watts of Moor Farm, which hosts a <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/go.skimresources.com\/?id=76202X1587086&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.featherdown.co.uk%2Fengland%2Fcotswolds%2Fmoor-farm&amp;sref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.express.co.uk%2Fnews%2Fuk%2F2050009%2Ffarmers-land-campsites-labour-inheritance-tax-changes\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Feather Down Glamping<\/a> site in Gloucestershire, said he faces &#8220;urgent challenges&#8221; that Labour have not addressed since announcing the IHT reforms. And while he acknowledged the importance of the &#8220;vital income&#8221; his glamping site provides, it is still not enough without <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" title=\"Boost for UK farmers after &#039;significant&#039; change to tractors allowed on roads\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/news\/uk\/2049363\/uk-farmers-tractors-hydrogen-roads\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">increased Government support<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He told The Express: &#8220;At Moor Farm, diversification through our Feather Down Farms glamping site has provided vital income, but more support from the Government is necessary for the industry to grow.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Andrew Wilkinson, Head of Inheritance Disputes at <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.shma.co.uk\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Shakespeare Martineau<\/a>, explained that Richard is not the only farmer forced to find new cash flows, as holiday lets and farm shops become increasingly popular options.<\/p>\n<p>He told the Express: &#8220;Farming families are right to explore new income streams.
