{"id":71625,"date":"2025-05-03T16:45:08","date_gmt":"2025-05-03T16:45:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/71625\/"},"modified":"2025-05-03T16:45:08","modified_gmt":"2025-05-03T16:45:08","slug":"uk-and-india-wrap-up-latest-trade-talks-without-a-deal-politico","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/71625\/","title":{"rendered":"UK and India wrap up latest trade talks without a deal \u2013 POLITICO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ministers see securing a free trade agreement with India, as well as a separate bilateral investment treaty, as a key economic priority.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for the U.K. Department for Business and Trade said on Saturday: \u201cWe have been clear we will only sign a deal that is fair, balanced and ultimately in the best interests of the British people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are determined to improve access for U.K. businesses, ensure their fair treatment, cut tariffs, and make trade cheaper and easier,\u201d the spokesperson added.<\/p>\n<p>Goyal returned after visiting Oslo and Brussels following a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/uk-india-cusp-strike-trade-deal\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/uk-india-cusp-strike-trade-deal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">two-day negotiating sprint<\/a> with U.K. Trade Secretary Jonathan Reynolds in London<strong> <\/strong>at the start of this week.<\/p>\n<p>There are \u201cjust a couple of issues left to resolve,\u201d said a person briefed on the talks by Goyal.
