FURIOUS locals have demanded council chiefs ban an \u201cunbearable\u201d Christmas event near their homes.<\/p>\n

I sound like the Grinch here, but I\u2019m not. If you stayed where I live<\/a>, you would be sitting here along with me.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cA lot of my neighbours that can afford it, go away for the weekend or a week, it\u2019s become that bad.\u201d<\/p>\n Resident Jo Shoba said people may consider moving home<\/a> if the event becomes a permanent thing.<\/p>\n \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tMost read in The Scottish Sun\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n She said: \u201cWe want reassurance that we are not facing that annually because people will have to move.\u201d<\/p>\n Ms Shoba added: \u201cWe want to draw attention, not just to the lack of transparency in consultation, in the rushed process of planning<\/a> this event, there is an aftermath of damage to the green itself.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cLarge areas have been left bare, and the ground will take many weeks, if not months, to recover. It all forms part of a broader picture we see of neglect of Glasgow\u2019s historic Green.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cWe see a lack of investment and its opposite, namely commercial exploitation for private gain.\u201d<\/p>\n The council apologised for the lack of consultation with residents before the Christmas<\/a> zone was set up, instead they were contacted after.<\/p>\n \u201cProcurement timescales\u201d were blamed for the lack of communication.
