The European Union Delegation to Afghanistan says it has allocated nearly \u20ac20 million to the World Food Programme (WFP) to support child nutrition.<\/p>\n
In a statement issued on Saturday, January 24, the delegation said the funds have been earmarked for the implementation of school-based child nutrition programs.<\/p>\n
The European Union added that it has also invested an additional \u20ac25 million through the United Nations Children\u2019s Fund (UNICEF) to ensure that schools remain safe environments for learning.<\/p>\n
According to the delegation, this investment will strengthen a range of services, from support for teachers to water, sanitation, and hygiene services, as well as children\u2019s education.<\/p>\n
The European Union has also allocated \u20ac6 million to the organization \u201cChild Protection\u201d to support children.<\/p>\n
The delegation further stated: \u201cIn cooperation with UNESCO and with a budget of \u20ac4.7 million, the European Union will provide literacy and technical and vocational skills to 7,500 adolescents and adults in five provinces.\u201d<\/p>\n
