This weekend is Star Wars Day,<\/a> and one way Lucasfilm is celebrating the occasion is the announcement of a new book. Unlike more recent ones set around the Original Trilogy<\/a>, this one takes us to the Sequel zone\u2014specifically, to Finn<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to a recent Penguin Random House<\/a> posting, the ex-Stormtrooper played by John Boyega<\/a> in the films will be the lead in The Last Order.\u00a0Written by Kwame Mbalia (Tristan Strong Punches a Hole in the Sky), the YA book will see Finn and Jannah from Rise of Skywalker\u00a0hunt down a First Order officer responsible for kidnapping kids to convert them into future soldiers. During their journey to find this individual, the pair will \u201cwrestle with their own complicated pasts\u00a0 as soldiers of the oppressive regime.\u201d<\/p>\n

If it\u2019s been awhile since you\u2019ve seen\u00a0Rise,\u00a0that movie ended with a tease of Jannah (Naomi Ackie) and Lando teaming up with Lando to find her family. It\u2019s never been clear if Lucasfilm ever intended to follow through on that with Lando\u2019s in-flux movie\/TV show, but that thread may continue here, ditto Finn\u2019s own past. Recall he\u2019s the only member of\u00a0Star Wars\u2019 sequel trio whose backstory wasn\u2019t fleshed out like Rey and Poe\u2019s. If this is the way to take out two birds with one stone, and also give an idea of where Finn\u2019s at with his Force training<\/a>, we\u2019re all for it.<\/p>\n

According to Penguin\u2019s listing,\u00a0Star Wars: The Last Order releases\u00a0October 21.<\/p>\n
