A 61-year-old man is in critical condition in hospital after a serious assault outside a village pub in the early hours of Saturday. South Wales Police have launched an investigation and are appealing for information to help them find a 28-year-old suspect.<\/p>\n
The incident occurred at approximately 1am on Saturday, May 3, outside the Church Inn in Newport<\/a> Road, Old St Mellons, Cardiff. A cordon was still in place outside the pub on Saturday morning with multiple officers on scene.<\/p>\n Medical equipment could also be seen on the ground. They are looking for a 28-year-old suspect in connection with the incident though they have not named the individual or provided a description.<\/p>\n Detective sergeant Laura Slocombe, from Rumney CID, said: “We know there were people in the vicinity of the incident when it happened.<\/p>\n “If they haven\u2019t spoken to officers they are urged to get in touch.<\/p>\n “The suspect involved also knows we are looking for him and he is urged to hand himself in to a police station.”<\/p>\n A spokesman for South Wales Police said: “An investigation has been launched by South Wales Police<\/a> following a serious assault outside The Church Inn in Old St Mellons, Cardiff<\/a>.<\/p>\n “A man, 61, is in a critical condition in hospital following the incident which happened at approximately 1am on Saturday, May 3.<\/p>\n “Detectives are looking for the 28 year-old suspect and are appealing for anybody who may have witnessed the incident to make contact.”<\/p>\n Anyone with information is asked to contact the police force via its live chat platform by clicking here<\/a> or via an online form by clicking here<\/a>.
