A security alert in Lurgan has now ended and residents have been able to return to their homes.<\/p>\n
The Shankill Street area of Lurgan was closed to the public this morning after police received a report at around 4.35am that a suspicious object had been left in the area.<\/p>\n

A PSNI spokesperson said emergency services were at the scene and road closures were in place.<\/p>\n
In an update this afternoon, police said officers attended the scene along with Ammunition Technical Officers who examined the object and declared it nothing untoward.<\/p>\n

\u201cResidents have been advised they can also return home after they were evacuated as a precautionary measure,\u201d Chief Inspector Tim Flanigan said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe appreciate that people experienced disruption as this public safety operation was carried out, and we thank residents for their understanding and patience during this time.”<\/p>\n
