A great effort all round and a cracking day for it.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The fight for independence is on. Scotland shall.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>However the 5,000 attendees number has been disputed with some sources claiming it to closer to 2,000.<\/p>\n<p>The event took off from Kelvin Way to Glasgow green and brought a number of roads in the city to a standstill.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/news\/13534451\/scotland-split-independence-wont-happen-decades\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Scots remain split down the middle on independence<\/a> but now reckon a UK split will not happen for decades, polling reveals.<\/p>\n<p>Some 40 per cent back going it alone while 44 per cent favour staying in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/topic\/uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UK<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Yes\/No divide was 48\/52, excluding undecideds and non-voters, compared to 45\/55 in 2014\u2019s historic\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/topic\/referendum\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">referendum<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And More in Common\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/topic\/research\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">research<\/a>\u00a0for The Scottish Sun on Sunday also revealed voters are now less likely to think independence will happen while they are alive.<\/p>\n<p>Around two-thirds of Scots previously predicted the break-up of the UK within 30 years, at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/news\/scottish-news\/1124919\/fewer-than-one-million-people-vote-for-the-snp-in-2017-general-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the height of Nats\u2019 popularity in 2015<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But asked last week if\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/topic\/scotland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scotland<\/a>\u00a0will become independent in their lifetime, 48 per cent said no, while 30 per cent said yes and 22 per cent were unsure.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"A large group of people marching, carrying Scottish flags and banners that read &quot;Our Right to Decide&quot; and &quot;Still Yes&quot;.\" height=\"640\" width=\"960\" data-credit=\"Tom Farmer\" data-img=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/03-05-indy-march-indy-991752816.jpg\" data-caption=\"Scottish independence activists with flags march through Glasgow today\"   loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/03-05-indy-march-indy-991752816.jpg\" role=\"img\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>3<\/p>\n<p>Scottish independence activists with flags march through Glasgow todayCredit: Tom Farmer<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"THOUSANDS of activists flocked to Glasgow today for an annual pro-independence rally.
