letter<\/a> to Cabinet Office Minister Nick Thomas-Symonds, who oversees government procurement body the Crown Commercial Service,\u00a0they warn that \u201ccontinuing a contract with companies involved with Russia\u2019s energy sector is inconsistent\u201d with the U.K.\u2019s\u00a0repeatedly-touted\u00a0goal of undermining Russia\u2019s fossil fuel revenues, which\u00a0are\u00a0used to finance its war on Ukraine. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\u201cIn view of escalating Russian hybrid attacks against the U.K., and ongoing brutal attacks across Ukraine, public sector procurement must align not only with sanctions but also with government foreign policy, including efforts to deter and disrupt Russian aggression,\u201d they write.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The letter \u2014\u00a0co-ordinated by campaign groups Razom We Stand and B4 Ukraine\u00a0\u2014\u00a0 is\u00a0co-signed by Labour MP Alex Sobel,\u00a0who\u00a0chairs\u00a0the Ukraine\u00a0APPG, as well as Green MPs Carla Denyer and Si\u00e2n Berry, both former party co-leaders. <\/p>\n
Sobel, who has visited Ukraine seven times since the full-scale invasion, last month called for \u201cmaximum pressure on Russia.\u201d<\/p>\n
