Arne Slot will be sacked by Liverpool if they fail to turn results around ahead of crucial clashes against Newcastle, Man City and Sunderland.<\/strong><\/p>\n Slot\u2019s side lost 3-2 to Bournemouth<\/a> in dramatic circumstances last time out and are now winless in their last five Premier League games, with just five wins in 18.<\/p>\n Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown<\/a> told Football Insider<\/strong> that Slot<\/a>\u2018s position is almost untenable with large sections of the fans now beginning to turn.<\/p>\n However, he has also been thrown under the bus by his players, with fingers pointed at his defensive players including the captain Virgil van Dijk<\/a>.<\/p>\n Both Van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate<\/a> have made costly mistakes this season and the Reds no longer have a stable defensive foundation upon which to build their success.<\/p>\n Liverpool fans have called for Slot\u2019s dismissal<\/a> as a result of their recent run of form, which has seen them drop to sixth place in the Premier League behind rivals Man United.<\/p>\n Brown has warned that failure to get back to winning ways in the near future could cost the manager his job amid the games in the Premier League, that is not good enough for any Liverpool manager, so they need to start winning.<\/p>\n \u201cThe big question mark at Liverpool and a big reason for their form is about their defenders.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n \u201cTheir two centre-backs, including Van Dijk, have not been anywhere near good enough and they\u2019re dropping points because they don\u2019t have that stable foundation.<\/p>\n \u201cNobody really asks questions of Van Dijk, we look at him as the calming presence, but he hasn\u2019t been that this season and it\u2019s a big problem.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s that lack of defensive stability which has led to pressure on the manager, and if things continue the way they have been, he will be sacked.\u201d<\/p>\n Liverpool set sights on move to sign Micky van de Ven<\/p>\n Amid concerns about their current defensive options, Liverpool have been eyeing a number of centre-back targets including Tottenham\u2019s Micky van de Ven.<\/p>\n Football Insider<\/strong> revealed on 24 January that Van de Ven could push to leave Tottenham<\/a> if their current league struggles continue, placing clubs on alert.<\/p>\n Liverpool are the current favourites to sign Van de Ven<\/a>\u00a0as he is continually linked away from\u00a0Tottenham, with Real Madrid also known to be keeping tabs on his availability.<\/p>\n Alongside Slot, Thomas Frank is also facing extreme pressure on his position at Tottenham, and he could be set to lose key players as a result.<\/p>\n Tottenham currently occupy 14th in the Premier League and their chances of
