Actor Tom Cruise<\/strong><\/a> has reportedly abandoned his longtime London dwelling in order to return to the U.S. after more than four years of living abroad\u2014allegedly leaving staff members at his luxurious apartment building “stunned” by his hasty exit.<\/p>\n

Cruise<\/a>, 63, is understood to have taken up residence in a $47 million unit overlooking Hyde Park several years ago, having begun spending much of his professional and personal time in the U.K., where he has shot multiple movie projects throughout his career.<\/p>\n

However, the “Mission Impossible” star<\/a> is said to have made a very swift departure from that property, with sources close to Cruise telling the Daily Mail<\/a> that staff inside his luxury high-rise building were blindsided by his decision to leave.<\/p>\n

“It all happened very quickly, it was a surprise to the staff at the building where his penthouse is,” the insider shared, adding that members of staff at the building were seen removing boxes of Cruise’s possessions from the property.<\/p>\n

The move is all the more surprising given that Cruise appeared to have settled into his ideal life in London, where he was afforded slightly more privacy than he ever enjoyed in the U.S.<\/p>\n

‘It’s most strange,” the source continued. “The U.K. became both his professional headquarters and private playground, with discrete dates, tightly-guarded movements and late-night arrivals. England became far more than just a filming base.”<\/p>\n

But it was not only London where Cruise is said to have let loose, with the source claiming that the actor would also regularly head to the countryside by helicopter in order to escape city life.<\/p>\n

The outlet reports that Cruise relocated to London in 2021\u2014and has spent the majority of his time in the U.K. capital ever since.<\/p>\n

In 2022, he gushed about how much he loved Britain, highlighting its beautiful countryside, fascinating history, and “pleasant” locals.<\/p>\n

“I guess I am an \u00adAnglophile,” he admitted while filming scenes for “Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One.” “I spend a lot of time in Britain, and that’s not just for work reasons. I just love being here.<\/p>\n

“It’s a fantastic blend of old and new. I love seeing the sights, the Tower of London, Nelson’s Column, Buckingham Palace and all those fantastic places which are just full of history.<\/p>\n

“Britain is trendy, too, and has a lot that other countries then copy. I also love the British countryside.<\/p>\n

“It is breathtaking and I found myself wanting to explore more and more.<\/p>\n

“That’s the reason I have made a few other visits in my own time that have nothing to do with work. Everyone is pleasant and will give you a nod or say hello without crowding you. I was brought up to be \u00adwell-mannered and you really get that in Britain.”<\/p>\n

Cruise threw himself into life in London and beyond, regularly attending red carpet events in the capital, including soirees with Prince William <\/strong>and Princess Kate<\/strong><\/a>, as well as the premiere of Brad Pitt<\/a><\/strong>‘s “F1: The Movie.”<\/p>\n

The film star’s decision to return to the U.S. somewhat bucks the latest Hollywood trend, which has seen multiple A-listers fleeing\u2014or threatening to flee\u2014the country, with many blaming President Donald Trump<\/strong>‘s reelection for their moves.<\/p>\n

Since the 2024 election, Rosie O’Donnell<\/a><\/strong>, Ellen DeGeneres <\/strong>and Portia de Rossi<\/strong><\/a>, Eva Longoria<\/a><\/strong>, and Richard Gere<\/a> <\/strong>have all quit the U.S.<\/a> in favor of living abroad.<\/p>\n

Cruise’s own reasons for leaving his London abode are not yet clear, although his alleged relocation comes not long after the actor reportedly ended a romance with his costar, Ana de Armas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The duo, who first sparked dating rumors in February 2025, when they were seen enjoying what appeared to be a date night in the British city, not far from Cruise’s apartment.<\/p>\n

However, reports surfaced in October that they had gone their separate ways\u2014with some sources claiming that the romance never really evolved into anything serious.<\/p>\n

Cruise, who has been married three times, first to Mimi Rogers<\/strong>, then to Nicole Kidman<\/strong>, and finally to Katie Holmes<\/strong>, tries to maintain a strict level of secrecy around his private life and has not yet commented on his reported relocation back to the U.S.<\/p>\n

The actor severed ties with the Los Angeles real estate market several years ago, opting to relocate from the Hollywood hub to Florida, where he snapped up multiple condos inside a Clearwater, FL<\/a>, high-rise in 2017.<\/p>\n

He dropped $9.6 million on a 20,826-square-foot, two-level penthouse inside the\u00a0Skyview tower<\/a>, which was reportedly altered to accommodate Cruise, according to the\u00a0Tampa Bay Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The actor’s lavish living quarters include four bedrooms, a gym, game room, home theater, roof deck with an infinity pool, hot tub, gardens, and a bar.<\/p>\n

The penthouse boasts a private garage with a car elevator on the second floor. That level also apparently includes a flight simulator, as well as an office space and a sports storage area.<\/p>\n

Cruise paid an additional $1.5 million for three more condos in the Clearwater high-rise, perhaps for staff or relatives.<\/p>\n

The building,\u00a0developed\u00a0by fellow Scientologist\u00a0Moises Agami<\/strong>, is located just blocks from the Church of Scientology headquarters. Cruise has been a member of the church since 1986.<\/p>\n

It’s unclear whether Cruise is planning to move back into his Sunshine State property now that he has left the U.K.<\/p>\n

The actor sold off a sprawling property in Colorado for $39.5 million in 2021, having owned the property for years.<\/p>\n
