Coverage will start at 2 p.m. ET and will be covered across NBC and Peacock.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kentuckyderby.com\/horses\/news\/kentucky-derby-2025-payout-winners-purse-prize-money\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Churchill Downs announced on April 21<\/a>\u00a0that the purse for the 2025 Kentucky Derby will be the same as it was for the 150th edition of the Run for the Roses at $5 million.<\/p>\n<p>The winner of Derby 151 will take home a cash prize of $3.1 million, which was a record-breaking winner&#8217;s share this time last year when Mystik Dan won. The venue hosts around 165,000 people for the Kentucky Derby, a majority of which are in the grandstands of the race track.<\/p>\n<p>For standing room only tickets and general admission, the prices start at $366, up more than $100 from the listed price at the end of April. Expect to shell out at least $135,000 for a private suite, with reserved seating going for at least $721, up from last year&#8217;s prices.<\/p>\n<p>The Kentucky Derby offers what are called\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/derbyexperiences.com\/kentucky-derby-2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&#8220;Derby Experiences&#8221;<\/a>\u00a0tickets, which include admission to the event and various accommodations through four different admission packages. \u2014 Scooby Axson<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/horses\/kentucky-derby\/2025\/05\/01\/baeza-horse-trainer-jockey-kentucky-derby-2025-field-rodriguez-bob-baffert\/83385328007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2025 Kentucky Derby\u00a0field was narrowed to 19 horses<\/a> after\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/horses\/kentucky-derby\/2025\/04\/18\/kentucky-derby-2025-horse-grande-trainer-owner-jockey-record\/83071259007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Grande<\/a>\u00a0was scratched on Friday because of a foot bruise. Veterinarians made the final decision to pull the horse. Grande is trained by Todd Pletcher and was to be ridden by John Velazquez. On Thursday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/horses\/kentucky-derby\/2025\/04\/12\/kentucky-derby-2025-horse-rodriguez-trainer-owner-jockey-record\/83048020007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rodriguez<\/a>, one of two horses trained by Bob Baffert that was scheduled to race in the Derby, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/horses\/kentucky-derby\/2025\/05\/01\/baeza-horse-trainer-jockey-kentucky-derby-2025-field-rodriguez-bob-baffert\/83385328007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">was also scratched with a foot bruise<\/a>.
