All eyes are on Manchester United’s<\/a> transfer activity with just one week remaining in the January window.<\/p>\n

Given United’s struggles under Ruben Amorim<\/a> leading into this month, many fans would have anticipated several new signings in order to improve their prospects of securing Champions League<\/a> qualification.<\/p>\n

However, Amorim’s sacking<\/a> put a halt to those plans as he was replaced by interim manager Michael Carrick, who has enjoyed a remarkable start to his tenure with wins against title contenders<\/a> Manchester City<\/a> and Arsenal<\/a>.<\/p>\n

United failed to bring in winger Antoine Semenyo earlier this month, with the Ghanaian instead choosing to join rivals Manchester City<\/a>. Meanwhile, Kobbie Mainoo’s situation appears more settled following Amorim’s dismissal.<\/p>\n

It is unclear whether there will be any arrivals or departures at Old Trafford<\/a> as we approach deadline day on February 2. However, that hasn’t stopped speculation from continuing as The Manchester Evening News <\/strong>examines two of the latest transfer rumours concerning United.<\/p>\n

Ndidi decision reached\"Nigeria's<\/p>\n

Reports from Turkey stated last week that United were targeting Besiktas midfielder Wilfred Ndidi. It was claimed United had enquired about the conditions of a potential agreement for the Nigerian, who is reportedly eager for a Premier League<\/a> return, having previously played for Leicester.<\/p>\n

However, Fabrizio Romano now reports United are not moving forward with a deal to sign the 29-year-old during this transfer window, despite looking at market opportunities for midfielders.<\/p>\n

It is understood that Besiktas would insist on a loan arrangement with an obligation to buy worth around \u00a312million. Yet, United are only keen on a temporary deal, as they are reluctant to sign a midfielder permanently before naming their new manager.<\/p>\n

Ndidi only joined the Turkish club last summer, with his contract running until 2028.<\/p>\n

Scouts sent abroad\"Rennes'<\/p>\n

United are reportedly keen on signing Rennes striker Mohamed Kader Meite. The 18-year-old France U21s forward has experienced a meteoric rise in Ligue 1, drawing interest from numerous clubs due to his explosive speed and goal-scoring instinct.<\/p>\n

French media suggests United have already dispatched scouts to observe Meite in action, although Chelsea<\/a>, Tottenham, Brighton, Aston Villa, Newcastle and Brentford are understood to have done likewise over recent weeks.<\/p>\n

Should United choose to bring the 6ft4in prospect to Old Trafford this month, they would need to move Joshua Zirkzee on first.
