It is not clear which would be favoured by the RFEF.<\/p>\n<p>Portugal is also a co-host of the 2030 World Cup, the most geographically stretched in history, which will begin with a handful of games in Uruguay, Paraguay and Argentina to mark the competition\u2019s centenary.<\/p>\n<p>Morocco\u2019s ambitious construction of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityam.com\/in-pictures-new-stadium-set-to-be-worlds-biggest-and-host-2030-world-cup\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Grand Stade Hassan II<\/a>, which will be situated near Casablanca and is scheduled to be completed in 2028, had appeared to make it the frontrunner to stage the tournament\u2019s marquee match.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Its bid appeared to be boosted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityam.com\/ahead-of-the-game-fifa-eyes-morocco-over-spain-as-2030-world-cup-hq\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fifa leaning towards staging its World Cup headquarters<\/a> in the North African country rather than its Iberian partners.<\/p>\n<p>But those credentials were tarnished by the conclusion of the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this month, which saw eventual winners Senegal leave the pitch in protest at refereeing decisions in favour of opponents Morocco.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMorocco is really undergoing a transformation in every sense, with magnificent stadiums,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/sports\/soccer\/spain-will-host-2030-world-cup-final-says-rfef-president-2026-01-27\/#:~:text=MADRID%2C%20Jan%2027%20(Reuters),by%20Spain%2C%20Portugal%20and%20Morocco.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">added Louzan<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe must recognise what has been done well.
