ST. PETERSBURG – Russia plans to launch three modules for a lunar nuclear power station between 2033 and 2035, local media reported on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Vasily Marfin, general director of the S A Lavochkin Scientific and Production Association, said the Lunar Power Station space complex is designed to ensure soft, highly accurate and safe landings in the Moon’s near-polar region, conduct contact research, select and study future landing sites and deploy the first modules of a lunar testing ground, TASS reported.<\/p>\n

He said that a charging and power distribution<\/strong><\/a> station, a lunar rover and a nuclear power unit will be launched during the 2033-2035 period to support the construction of the lunar energy<\/strong><\/a> infrastructure.<\/p>\n
