LONDON (AP) \u2014 Prince Harry\u2019s<\/a> troubled relationships with the British royal family, the U.K. establishment and the media have played out in public for years \u2013 in books and interviews, on television programs and in the courts.<\/p>\n

The latest twist saw Harry give a revealing interview<\/a> after a court rejected his attempt to restore the police protection that was stripped from him after he quit his royal duties<\/a> and moved to the U.S. in 2020.<\/p>\n

Here is a timeline of recent events involving Harry and the British royal family:<\/p>\n

July 2016 <\/p>\n

Prince Harry and American actor Meghan Markle<\/a> meet on a blind date set up by a mutual friend.<\/p>\n

Nov. 8, 2016<\/p>\n

Harry confirms Markle is his girlfriend and condemns press coverage of her. He says he fears for her safety and says press coverage crossed the line and used \u201cracial undertones\u201d in its stories. His comments remind many that his mother, Princess Diana,<\/a> had died in a car crash while being pursued by photographers.<\/p>\n

Nov. 27, 2017<\/p>\n

Harry and Meghan<\/a> announce their engagement.<\/p>\n

May 19, 2018<\/p>\n

Meghan and Harry get married<\/a> in a grand ceremony at Windsor Castle.<\/p>\n

2019-onwards<\/p>\n

Harry launches lawsuits against three newspaper groups \u2014 Rupert Murdoch\u2019s News Group, the Mirror Group<\/a> and Associated Newspapers<\/a>.
