{"id":727487,"date":"2026-01-29T01:08:10","date_gmt":"2026-01-29T01:08:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/727487\/"},"modified":"2026-01-29T01:08:10","modified_gmt":"2026-01-29T01:08:10","slug":"uk-dividends-rose-in-q4-to-14-3bn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/727487\/","title":{"rendered":"UK dividends rose in Q4 to \u00a314.3bn"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>UK dividends rose 1.3% in Q4 2025 to \u00a314.3bn according to the Dividend Monitor report from global financial services company Computershare.<\/p>\n<p>Regular dividends, which exclude one-off special payments, rose to \u00a313.9bn in Q4, up 2.1% on a constant-currency basis.<\/p>\n<p>The report noted how Q4 ended positively thanks to better than anticipated payouts in the energy, consumer basics and property sectors.<\/p>\n<p>As well as a boost from companies promoted from the AIM to the main stock market, also a moderation in the impact of exchange rates.<\/p>\n<p>However, when you zoom out for the full year, headline payouts were down 0.9% to \u00a387.5bn.<\/p>\n<p>The report reveals share buybacks reached a provisional \u00a363.6bn for 2025, up from \u00a330.8bn in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>For 2026 the report projects total dividends of \u00a388.8bn, up 1.5% on a headline basis.<\/p>\n<p>Regular dividends of \u00a385.9bn are anticipated to rise 2% on a constant-currency basis, with UK equities yielding 3.3%.<\/p>\n<p>Banks, insurers and general financials increased regular dividends by \u00a31.2bn across the three sectors.<\/p>\n<p>Healthcare, utilities and basic consumer goods also made a notable positive contribution.<\/p>\n<p>Computershare CEO Issuer Services Mark Cleland said: \u201cDividend payouts have still not regained pre-pandemic highs, and the slow dividend growth we\u2019ve seen since 2020 largely continued last year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRates did improve as 2025 progressed \u2013 and might well have been higher although many companies used significant sums of capital to undertake share buyback programmes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are no clear indications that dividends will grow much faster in 2026, but a median dividend growth of 3.7% suggests a healthier market trend than the outlying figures suggest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In January 2025, Computershare revealed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.moneymarketing.co.uk\/news\/uk-companies-paid-out-92-1bn-in-dividends-in-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">UK companies paid out \u00a392.1bn in dividends in 2024<\/a>, 2.3% higher on a headline basis than in 2023.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"UK dividends rose 1.3% in Q4 2025 to \u00a314.3bn according to the Dividend Monitor report from global financial&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":727488,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":"","_share_on_mastodon":"0"},"categories":[3,4],"tags":[748,30103,393,4884,1144,712,16,216484,15,1764],"class_list":["post-727487","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-uk","category-united-kingdom","tag-britain","tag-computershare","tag-england","tag-great-britain","tag-northern-ireland","tag-scotland","tag-uk","tag-uk-dividends","tag-united-kingdom","tag-wales"],"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@uk\/115975717739440197","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/727487","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=727487"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/727487\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/727488"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=727487"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=727487"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=727487"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
