A Russian cargo tanker tracked sailing through the Bristol Channel has been ordered to leave British waters.<\/p>\n

The ship Sinegorsk was tracked sailing up the channel at around 9.30pm on Tuesday, January 26 according to Marine Traffic.<\/p>\n

It is understood the ship entered UK waters to complete necessary safety repairs.<\/p>\n

The ship sat to the north of Minehead in Somerset overnight, before finally appearing to sail off again at around 2pm on Wednesday, January 28.<\/p>\n

The UKDefence Journal<\/a>, which tracked the ship for 24 hours, reports the vessel was told to leave by the Department for Transport.<\/p>\n

In a statement to the publication, the DfT said: ” We issued a clear warning as a first step to SINEGORSK vessel to leave UK waters after it entered to undertake essential safety repairs. This directive has been complied with, and the vessel is leaving UK waters.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Marine Traffic, which can be publicly viewed, the Sinegorsk left Arkhangelsk, Russia earlier this month.<\/p>\n

At the time of writing, the site has tracked the ship to the Celtic Sea, north of Cornwall.<\/p>\n

The Sinegorsk is a general cargo ship which sails under the flag of Russia.<\/p>\n
