{"id":727863,"date":"2026-01-29T05:10:19","date_gmt":"2026-01-29T05:10:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/727863\/"},"modified":"2026-01-29T05:10:19","modified_gmt":"2026-01-29T05:10:19","slug":"youth-resilience-event-aims-to-better-support-young-people","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/727863\/","title":{"rendered":"Youth resilience event aims to better support young people"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8211; Advertisement &#8211;<a data-no-instant=\"1\" href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/4oAJpCd\" rel=\"noopener nofollow sponsored\" class=\"a2t-link\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"KaanaLB\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/KaanaLB.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"no-lazyload\" width=\"728\" height=\"90\" style=\" max-width: 100%; height: auto;opacity: 1 !important;\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Manchester welcomed a much-needed youth resilience panel on the evening of 28th January to explore how the city and the rest of the <a href=\"https:\/\/ilovemanchester.com\/atom-valley-manchester-growth\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">North West<\/a> can better support young people.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hosted by Ndidi Okezie OBE, the panel featured famous faces including former Lioness Jess Clarke, Olympic gold medalist and Nord Anglia Education sports and performance coach Marlon Devonish MBE.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The event, named A Focus on Resilience, was hosted at the <a href=\"https:\/\/ilovemanchester.com\/first-female-footballer-statue-lily-parr-manchester-national-football-museum\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Football Museum<\/a> in Manchester and marked the first of five events to be hosted by the Teaching Awards Trust and Nord Anglia Education over the coming month.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Helping young people navigate the pressures of life<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Former-Lioness-Jess-Clarke.jpg\" alt=\"Former Lioness Jess Clarke walks along a football pitch in a  blue football kit wearing the number 7\" class=\"wp-image-212023\"  \/>Former Lioness, Jess Clarke joined the panel<\/p>\n<p>With the number of young people accessing <a href=\"https:\/\/ilovemanchester.com\/manchester-united-most-popular-social-media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">social media<\/a> ever-rising, this event highlighted the importance of acting fast. Now more than ever, children and young people need support to grow, be confident and have a familiar face to lean on in times of crisis.<\/p>\n<p>Former Channel 4 series \u2018Educating Yorkshire\u2019 student Musharaf Asghar also spoke at the event about his journey with a stammer through school, how he found his voice with the support of a dedicated teacher, which led to him becoming a motivational speaker. He is proof that anything is possible.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s all about giving young people the tools and confidence to navigate the pressures of modern life. Discussions looked at how <a href=\"https:\/\/ilovemanchester.com\/sunday-times-parent-power-guide-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">schools<\/a>, communities and organisations can work together to <a href=\"https:\/\/ilovemanchester.com\/lowry-festival-appeal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">empower young people.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>From the perspective of professionals<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"465\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/National-Football-Museum-Pic-credit-Peter-Corcoran-for-Mather-Co.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26824\"  \/>National Football Museum. Photo: Peter Corcoran for Mather &amp; Co<\/p>\n<p>Local experts, Alan Thompson, CEO of hi-impact, and Steve Baker OBE, Founder and Chief Executive of The Difference also featured on the panel to bring a fresh perspective.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Alan Thompson said: \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/ilovemanchester.com\/our-manchester-strategy-2025-2035\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Manchester<\/a> faces many of the same pressures as communities across the country, but its local nuances mean grassroots voices are essential.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOrganisations working on the ground understand what works, and this event showed that when everyone supporting young people pulls in the same direction, students benefit from a fully blended support system. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cSchools can\u2019t do this alone, the wider community all have a vital role to play\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Drawing on personal experiences<\/p>\n<p>The conversations looked forward, examining how rapidly evolving digital environments, artificial intelligence, and global uncertainty require educators to reconsider what resilience means for young people preparing for an uncertain future.<\/p>\n<p>Andrew Fitzmaurice, Chief Executive Officer of Nord Anglia Education said: \u201cAs the challenges facing young people are evolving faster than ever, a collaborative approach across education, business, and the community is essential.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFraming resilience through this lens gave the discussions real depth.
