Here at Time Out, we already know that Glasgow<\/a> is one of the most exciting cities in the country right now.\u00a0In fact, we reckon it\u2019s one of the best city breaks in all of Europe<\/a>.\u00a0And, it\u00a0turns out,\u00a0the Scottish city is also one of the hottest places to visit in the entire world this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Glasgow\u00a0just been named one of the top trending destinations in the world for 2026 in the TripAdvisor Travellers\u2019 Choice Awards. The awards are based\u00a0on the site\u2019s review data from the last 12 months, honouring places that get consistently high volume of \u2018above and beyond\u2019\u00a0feedback from TripAdvisor users.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The site said: \u2018Glasgow is Scotland’s largest city, but Edinburgh<\/a> gets all the love. Now, the once-industrial city is shedding its gritty reputation, thanks to the reimagined Arthouse Glasgow<\/a>\u00a0hotel opening this year, updated public transport<\/a>, and a packed calendar of music, sports, and cultural events.\u2019<\/p>\n

As well as the Arthouse hotel opening this year (which will be the new home of beloved Glasgow restaurant Celanteno\u2019s<\/a>), Glasgow is also getting a new walking trail about slavery and colonialism<\/a>, welcoming a new version of WOMAD (World of Music, Arts and Dance) festival<\/a>\u00a0and hosting the 2026 edition of the Commonwealth Games<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Some of\u00a0Time Out\u2019s\u00a0favourite things to do in the city (any time of the year) include catching a gig at Barrowlands<\/a>,\u00a0seeing a production at Citizens Theatre<\/a>,\u00a0exploring the exhibits at the\u00a0Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum<\/a>\u00a0(watch out for this year\u2019s Barbie show<\/a>) and sampling premium whiskey at Clydeside Distillery<\/a>.
