This City is Ours star James Nelson-Joyce has offered a glimpse into what’s in store for the second series of the BBC’s<\/a> gripping drama, which follows the warring members of a Liverpool-based crime family.<\/p>\n The show made its debut in March 2025, presenting audiences with Michael Kavanagh (played by Nelson-Joyce), a trusted operative for crime boss Ronnie Phelan (Sean Bean), who had been primed to assume control upon his retirement.<\/p>\n This prospect infuriated Ronnie’s reckless offspring, Jamie (Jack McMullen), who believed the throne should rightfully be his, with their bitter rivalry spiralling dangerously throughout eight nail-biting instalments.<\/p>\n A word-of-mouth sensation for the BBC<\/a>, This City is Ours is set to return for its second series later this year, with Endeavour star Shaun Evans amongst the fresh faces joining the cast.<\/p>\n James Nelson-Joyce has teased what’s coming in the second season of City is Ours <\/p>\n READ MORE: BBC Antiques Road Trip’s Hettie Jago’s life from TV career to marriage and children<\/a>READ MORE: ITV Coronation Street legend says ‘final goodbye’ after 11 years ‘well that’s it’<\/a><\/p>\n At the Radio Times Covers Party 2026, Nelson-Joyce revealed that Evans “brings a bit of villainy to the show” in his latest role and delivers an “amazing” performance.<\/p>\n A world away from the trusted Endeavour Morse, fans can expect to see Evans as dangerous ex-gangster Ozzie Thompson; an old associate of the late Ronnie, who demands compensation from the Phelans after finally being released from prison.<\/p>\n Nelson-Joyce also disclosed that Michael and his paramour, Diana (Hannah Onslow), would be beginning the second series “in happy town,” though their tranquillity will prove fleeting as his character ultimately “ruins it”.<\/p>\n The narrative will be driven forward by “backlash” to the killing of Colombian narcotics provider Ricardo Guzman (Daniel Cerqueira), who was gunned down in the finale by Michael’s right-hand man, Banksey (Mike Noble).<\/p>\n Endeavour star Shaun Evans is amongst the fresh faces joining the cast(Image: ITV)<\/p>\n “We see [how it affects] other characters,” said Nelson-Joyce, “but can I just say, Mike Noble is gonna blow everyone away this season.
