Don\u2019t do it, Debbie! Don\u2019t go to jail for conniving Carl Webster<\/a>\u2019s (Jonathan Howard<\/a>) crime<\/a>! That is the plea of every Coronation Street viewer in the land. Will Debbie Webster<\/a>! (Sue Devaney<\/a>) listen to reason?<\/p>\n They day of Debbie\u2019s sentencing hearing is fast approach, and sadly she\u2019s showing little sign of changing her plea to not guilty. <\/p>\n Her love for creepy Carl is so strong that she\u2019s willing to take the fall for dangerous driving under the influence resulting in the death of beloved Weatherfield vicar Billy Mayhew<\/a>\u00a0(Daniel Brocklebank<\/a>) \u2013 even though Carl was behind the wheel.<\/p>\n The worst Webster hit a new low after causing the Corriedale crash<\/a>, when he slid an unconscious Debbie into the driving seat to avoid facing the consequences himself. <\/p>\n Debbie\u2019s vascular dementia made her the perfect person to frame, as she easily could have forgotten getting behind the wheel. But even though she\u2019s realised that her seatbelt bruise from the accident means she must have been sitting in the passenger seat, Debbie stood by her decision to protect Carl and plead guilty despite her brother Kevin<\/a> (Michael Le Vell<\/a>) and husband Ronnie Bailey<\/a> (Vinta Morgan<\/a>) begging her not to.<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t Fans were outraged and confused by Debbie\u2019s noble act of sacrifice for a man who would happily see her behind bars just to save his own skin. But that sacrifice started to make a lot more sense when we saw Debbie take out a box of keepsakes containing a baby bracelet\u2026which proved that she is actually Carl\u2019s mum.<\/a><\/p>\n With Debbie\u2019s freedom hanging in the balance, upcoming scenes will see her drop some serious truth bombs on Carl that will rock his entire world. Will it be enough for him to save her?<\/p>\n The week gets off to a bad start when Debbie accidentally calls Ronnie by the name of her ex-husband, Ray Crosby (Mark Frost). Deeply worried, Ronnie confides his worries in Carl. But after having a strange conversation, he fills Debbie in and she dashes out.<\/p>\n The guilt gets too much for Carl, and he drops a huge bombshell <\/a>on Debbie \u2013 he was the one driving the car. But Debbie reveals that she\u2019s always known the truth, but\u00a0wants\u00a0to\u00a0protect\u00a0him.\u00a0Then\u00a0Debbie\u00a0reveals\u00a0the\u00a0mother\u00a0of\u00a0all\u00a0secrets.\u00a0How will Carl\u00a0react?<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t The day of judgment arrives at the hotel, as Ronnie chivvies Debbie to hurry up and get ready for court. \u00a0When\u00a0Ryan Connor<\/a>\u00a0(Ryan Prescott<\/a>) hands over\u00a0the\u00a0key\u00a0to\u00a0her flat\u00a0and\u00a0reveals\u00a0that\u00a0Carl\u00a0left it\u00a0at reception,\u00a0Debbie\u2019s\u00a0heart breaks to think her son won\u2019t be there to support her.\u00a0<\/p>\n \t\t\t\tDon’t miss a Soaps scoop! Will he listen?<\/p>\n As\u00a0Debbie\u00a0takes\u00a0her place\u00a0in\u00a0court,\u00a0she\u2019s pleased\u00a0to\u00a0see\u00a0Ronnie, Kevin, Ryan and Abi Webster<\/a>\u00a0(Sally Carman-Duttine<\/a>)\u00a0there\u00a0in\u00a0support.\u00a0But her face falls to see no sign of Carl. \u00a0<\/p>\n Then the moment of truth arrives at last, and Debbie is called forward to receive her sentence. Will Carl come to her aid at the eleventh hour?<\/p>\n \t\t While remaining tight lipped about Debbie\u2019s sentence, Corrie boss, Kate Brooks provided fans with a glimpse of what\u2019s to come for one of the Rover\u2019s Returns favourite regulars.<\/p>\n \u2018As we chart that journey for Debbie it\u2019s going to be really interesting watching how she deals with everything and how she\u2019s meant to be happily married and she\u2019s meant to be on her honeymoon and everything\u2019s been derailed, and how she deals with that is going to be a real test of character for her. <\/p>\n \u2018Dementia aside, this is about Debbie dealing with the here and now and facing the wrath of a lot of the community, who previously to this thought Debbie was the bees knees and the best thing since sliced bread but she\u2019s now apparently culpable for Billy\u2019s death.<\/p>\n \u2018That\u2019s a massive thing for Debbie to have to overcome, because the thing about her is she\u2019s one of the most big-hearted characters in the whole street. To deal with that as well is another real challenge for Debbie.
