{"id":730912,"date":"2026-01-30T13:32:10","date_gmt":"2026-01-30T13:32:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/730912\/"},"modified":"2026-01-30T13:32:10","modified_gmt":"2026-01-30T13:32:10","slug":"visa-free-entry-to-china-to-boost-business-travel-from-the-uk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/730912\/","title":{"rendered":"Visa-free entry to China to boost business travel from the UK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>British citizens will soon be granted visa-free entry into China for short-term travel, the UK government confirmed on Thursday (29 January).<\/p>\n<p>The agreement to relax visa rules was announced as part of UK prime minister Kier Starmer\u2019s visit to Beijing this week to bolster economic ties and \u201cgrow partnerships across government and business\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>British citizens currently require a visa to visit mainland China. The move brings the UK into line with 50 other countries \u2013 including France, Germany, Italy, Australia and Japan \u2013 whose citizens can visit China for up to 30 days without a visa.<\/p>\n<p>The government did not state when the change will come into effect, but expects it will boost business travel between the two countries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs one of the world\u2019s economic powerhouses, businesses have been crying out for ways to grow their footprints in China,\u201d Starmer said in a statement. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll make it easier for them to do so \u2013 including via relaxed visa rules for short-term travel \u2013 supporting them to expand abroad, all while boosting growth and jobs at home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Julia Lo Bue-Said, CEO of UK-based TMC consortium <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businesstravelnewseurope.com\/Europes-leading-TMCs\/2025\/Advantage-Travel-Partnership\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Advantage Travel Partnership<\/a>, said travel between the UK and China has seen a \u201crobust resurgence\u201d over the last two years, fuelled by restored flight connectivity and strengthening commercial relations.<\/p>\n<p>She welcomed the move as \u201ca significant milestone that will undoubtedly accelerate this momentum across both leisure and business travel\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Business Travel Association CEO Clive Wratten also applauded the announcement, stating \u201cchanges like this make international travel for work simpler and more efficient overall\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChina is, and will continue to be, a hugely important destination for UK business.
