Weather maps are forecasting a massive snowstorm<\/a> heading to Scotland in the early days of February. It has been a tough start to the year, with the Met Office issuing a series of weather warnings throughout January.<\/p>\n Storm Chandra became the sixth named storm to hit the UK<\/a> this season when it arrived on our shores earlier this week. Its impact has waned as the week has gone on, with only two Met Office alerts in place in the UK.<\/p>\n But it seems we are not out of the woods yet as a huge weatherfront<\/a> developing over the North Sea could be set to blanket Scotland next month. This ‘Beast from the East’-type storm threatens to bring up to 69cm of snow to parts of Scotland in February.<\/p>\n Weather maps from WX Charts, which uses Met Desk data, show a monster snowstorm stretching from Denmark and Norway in the east across the North Sea and hitting Scotland on the morning of Tuesday, February 10.<\/p>\n As the day goes on, more of the white stuff will hit our shores with the snow moving westward across the country. By the morning of Wednesday, February 11, heavy snow showers are forecast for the majority of Scotland’s east coast, as well as throughout central areas and the North East.<\/p>\n The Cairngorms<\/a> National Park appears to be the epicentre, with the ‘Beast from the East’ snowfall adding to the accumulations brought during late January. By the time the North Sea storm has dissipated across the UK, most of Scotland will have had a dusting.<\/p>\n A huge snowstorm stretching over the North Sea from Denmark is set to hit Scotland next month(Image: WX Charts)<\/p>\n And around the Cairngorms, this could be as much as 69cm of snow, according to WX Charts’ snow depth maps.<\/p>\n By the evening of February 11, snow of 15cm or more is forecast widely between parts of Stirlingshire and Moray.<\/p>\n The areas of Perthshire and Aberdeenshire surrounding the Cairngorms may see 20 or 25cm in certain regions.<\/p>\n There will be patches of between five and ten centimetres widely across Scotland, with only the west coast, the Inner and Outer Hebrides, and the Northern Isles avoiding at least some snowfall.<\/p>\n The eastern storm could bring as much as 69 inches of snow (bright yellow = 175cm) to the Cairngorms area(Image: WX Charts)<\/p>\n While the Met Office<\/a> forecast for early February is less dramatic than the predictions from WX Charts, the national weather agency has still highlighted the chance of snow.<\/p>\n It has warned Brits to expect “largely unsettled weather” with widespread rain, some wind, and snow in higher regions in the north.<\/p>\n As the month goes on, however, things are expected to become colder with more chance of snow, especially in Scotland.<\/p>\n The Met Office’s long-range forecast for February 2 to February 26 reads: “This period will start off in a similar vein to current conditions.
