7<\/p>\n TV presenter Christine Lampard opens up on marriage, motherhood and what it\u2019s like behind the scenes on Loose WomenCredit: MARK HAYMAN 7<\/p>\n Christine is married to Chelsea legend Frank LampardCredit: Getty 7<\/p>\n The pair share two kids, Patricia, six, and four-year-old FreddieCredit: Mark Hayman – Fabulous<\/p>\n \u201cWhen he was playing, he used to cancel nights out when Chelsea <\/a>didn\u2019t win. Thankfully, it didn\u2019t happen that often, as luckily, Chelsea won a lot!\u201d she laughs.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was actually alright. <\/p>\n \u201cHe would be annoyed just because he takes it all so seriously!\u201d<\/p>\n The football world required quite an adjustment for Christine<\/a>, who had never been that interested in the sport when growing up in Northern Ireland<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI went to an all-girls\u2019 school, I didn\u2019t have brothers. Football just wasn\u2019t a thing. I couldn\u2019t have cared less,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd then, suddenly, I started to care. <\/p>\n \u201cThe more I went to the games, the more I got it. <\/p>\n \u201cI thought, \u2018Oh my god, I see why people are into this. There is something magical about it’.\u201d<\/p>\n And does 46-year-old Frank<\/a>, who went on to manage Chelsea and is currently in charge of Championship side Coventry City<\/a>, still feel as passionately about winning as a manager as he did when he was a player?<\/p>\n \u201cHe lives and breathes his job at the minute,\u201d she admits. <\/p>\n ‘Won’t be able to look him in the eye’ – Christine Lampard and MOTD’s Kelly Cates in hysterics over ‘Frank’s hot sauce’<\/p>\n \u201cHe really does. <\/p>\n \u201cBut he always did, and I love him for it.<\/p>\n \u201cBeing a football player is one thing, but being a manager is a whole other level of responsibility and stress, and he takes it on board.\u201d<\/p>\n Of course, with Christine and their two kids, Patricia, six, and four-year-old Freddie, at home in west London<\/a> and Frank in Coventry, it means the pair have to negotiate a semi-long-distance relationship<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s not as long [as when he managed Everton<\/a> in 2022]. And he could be in another country, so really, it\u2019s actually been as manageable as you could possibly wish for,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n \u201cI really have no complaints, as it\u2019s just a two-hour drive. <\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s actually really enjoying being up there, and the fans have been brilliant. <\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s doing really well.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen he took it on, I think they were two points off relegation. <\/p>\n \u201cAnd then all of a sudden to even be thinking [they could get into the Premiership<\/a>], that\u2019s massive.\u201d<\/p>\n The pair, who married<\/a> in 2015 after meeting at an awards do, will celebrate their 10-year anniversary in December.<\/p>\n We love nothing more than just being in the house with the two youngsters and the dog. It\u2019s manic sometimes, but that\u2019s what our happy place is<\/p>\n Christine Lampard <\/p><\/blockquote>\n So, what\u2019s the secret to such a harmonious celebrity relationship?<\/p>\n \u201cFor me anyway, it was always being in agreement with things \u2013 that generally is a good start. Whether it\u2019s big life things, or even silly little things, we\u2019re aligned,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd then also, we still behave like 16 year olds.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have a proper giggle and are silly with each other and take the p**s out of each other. <\/p>\n \u201cWe have really good fun, and I think we\u2019re a good balance.<\/p>\n \u201cWe respect each other\u2019s stuff. <\/p>\n \u201cWhen he\u2019s doing his thing [I\u2019m at home], and then today, he\u2019s home and I\u2019m doing this shoot. <\/p>\n \u201cWe tick along and we have a good laugh most of the time. <\/p>\n \u201cWe love nothing more than just being in the house with the two youngsters and the dog. <\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s manic sometimes, but that\u2019s what our happy place is. <\/p>\n \u201cWe don\u2019t need fancy stuff. <\/p>\n \u201cI think that\u2019s really special when you\u2019re happy with simple things like cooking dinner and just sitting down with the telly on. <\/p>\n \u201cAll of those things are really special.\u201d<\/p>\n It hasn\u2019t all been straightforward, though.<\/p>\n When Christine met Frank, he had recently split from model Elen Rivas<\/a>, 50, the mother of his two eldest daughters, Luna, 19, and Isla, 17, and the pair have worked hard to navigate blending their families.<\/p>\n A new survey recently revealed that women are reluctant to date men with children because they don\u2019t want to be seen as \u201cthe evil stepmother\u201d. <\/p>\n Did that ever worry Christine?<\/p>\n \u201cThat never crossed my mind,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n 7<\/p>\n Christine revealed hubby Frank used to cancel dates when Chelsea lostCredit: MARK HAYMAN<\/p>\n \u201cAnd isn\u2019t it mad that we think about it still being an issue? <\/p>\n \u201cKate Ferdinand told me that one in three families in the UK are blended now, so you\u2019d think the language would have changed after all these years. <\/p>\n \u201cBut I understand people\u2019s nervousness, of course. <\/p>\n \u201cI didn\u2019t meet Frank\u2019s girls until we\u2019d been together for just over a year. <\/p>\n \u201cAnd that was thought through, it really was. <\/p>\n \u201cThey were very young at that stage as well.<\/p>\n \u201cI didn\u2019t have children<\/a> and I wasn\u2019t desperate for marriage and babies. <\/p>\n \u201cWe had a proper courtship, so it allowed us to have that time of not only him and me getting to know each other properly, but also knowing that we were right, before I was introduced to them.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I first met the girls, it was all done very naturally. <\/p>\n \u201cI was never \u2018Mummy\u2019, as they had a mummy. <\/p>\n \u201cThen it was just normal.\u201d<\/p>\n Frank is a god-like creature to our son, he wears the same clothes<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n But Christine does admit it wasn\u2019t always plain-sailing.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s hard for all parties, that\u2019s the truth. <\/p>\n \u201cIt can be difficult when there is emotion involved. <\/p>\n \u201cYou have to navigate everyone\u2019s feelings and not just think about yourself in order to try to make it a happy ship.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat I would say is you can absolutely get there. <\/p>\n \u201cSome people have awful times, but then it\u2019s brilliant.<\/p>\n \u201cI think the priority is the children \u2013 that\u2019s all I ever cared about. <\/p>\n \u201cI had a very good relationship with them in the role that I was in.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd that was it, I never stepped out of any boundaries. <\/p>\n \u201cI didn\u2019t want to, as it wasn\u2019t my place to. <\/p>\n \u201cSo it\u2019s being respectful, too.\u201d<\/p>\n As for who is the strictest parent, Christine is in no doubt.<\/p>\n \u201cOh, definitely me. A hundred million per cent,\u201d she laughs.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd Frank does the wrestling, swinging around and throwing them on the sofa. <\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s their favourite thing. <\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s fun-time Daddy, I\u2019m the one going: \u2018No, no, no, be careful!\u2019 and telling them to brush their teeth. <\/p>\n \u201cDaddy is with them today and I\u2019ll guarantee their teeth are not brushed, but they will have had the best day ever. <\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m the sensible one getting greens into them. <\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s no sense of that with Frank. <\/p>\n \u201cMy little boy worships him \u2013 Frank is a god-like creature to him and he tries to wear the same clothes. <\/p>\n \u201cSo if Frank has a baseball cap on, Freddie will put a baseball cap on.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s very cute, it\u2019s complete adoration.\u201d<\/p>\n 7<\/p>\n Christine playing with her and Frank’s children Patricia and FreddieCredit: Christine Lampard<\/p>\n As the next generation of football\u2019s famous dynasty \u2013 Frank is the nephew of former England<\/a> manager Harry Redknapp<\/a>, and the cousin of Jamie \u2013 will Patricia and Freddie follow in their father\u2019s footsteps?<\/p>\n \u201cPatricia has gone off football. She\u2019s very into unicorns and drawing now. Freddie loves bashing balls around, but I\u2019m not sure he\u2019s got losing gracefully down at all,\u201d she laughs. <\/p>\n \u201cCertainly not at the minute \u2013 it\u2019s not just a game when it comes to football.\u201d<\/p>\n \u2018The kids take the mickey out of Frank\u2019<\/p>\n And do they realise that their parents are famous?<\/p>\n \u201cYes and no,\u201d she says. <\/p>\n \u201cIf we\u2019re out together, obviously a lot of people want to talk football and ask for pictures with Frank.<\/p>\n \u201cIn the earlier days, they\u2019d ask: \u2018Why do they want a picture with you, Daddy?\u2019 And we would explain that Daddy played football.<\/p>\n \u201cBut it\u2019s become a joke now. <\/p>\n \u201cSo every time someone comes up to us, Frank will purposely say: \u2018So why do you think they wanted a picture?\u2019 And they\u2019ll roll their eyes and say: \u2018Because you score goals.\u2019 They take the mickey out of him.<\/p>\n \u201cFrank took a picture the other day when I was on Lorraine<\/a>, and they were looking at the telly and pointing. <\/p>\n \u201cBut then suddenly I\u2019m home and cleaning their bums and bathing them, back to being Mummy.\u201d<\/p>\n As well as standing in on Lorraine, Christine also hosts Loose Women<\/a>, which she joined in 2016.<\/p>\n The ITV<\/a> show, which has just scooped the RTS Award for Daytime Programme and is nominated for a BAFTA<\/a> later this month, is going from strength to strength, despite persistent rumours that it\u2019s \u201ctoxic\u201d<\/a> and certain panellists refusing to appear with one another.<\/p>\n 7<\/p>\n Christine with her celebrity gal pals celebrating Emma Bunton\u2019s birthday last yearCredit: INSTAGRAM<\/p>\n \u201cWell, there always have been reports, to be fair. That hasn\u2019t been a new thing,\u201d she admits. <\/p>\n \u201cAnd I can honestly swear, I have never, ever experienced anything [like that].<\/p>\n \u201cActually, I used to joke about it with Coleen Nolan<\/a>. <\/p>\n \u201cThere would always be magazine covers saying: \u2018Such-and-such is at war with such-and-such\u2019. <\/p>\n \u201cI used to joke with her going: \u2018Oh my god, I haven\u2019t been at war with anybody.\u2019 And then, weirdly, she sent me a screenshot of one of the magazines that said: \u2018Christine at war with Coleen\u2019. <\/p>\n \u201cI said: \u2018I\u2019ve finally made it, I\u2019ve got a war!\u2019 <\/p>\n \u201cOf course, it was certainly all in jest. <\/p>\n \u201cI couldn\u2019t care who\u2019s on the panel with me. <\/p>\n \u201cI have a great relationship with all the women.\u201d<\/p>\n \u2018It\u2019s a privilege to be part of Loose Women\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n One woman in particular that Christine is desperate to work with is fellow Northern Irish Loose Woman Gloria Hunniford.<\/a><\/p>\n She\u2019s been begging producers to put them together for the new Loose Women: The Podcast, in which two panellists have an unscripted chat and answer viewers\u2019 questions.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve launched the Loose Women podcast \u2013 who knew we had more to say?\u201d she laughs. <\/p>\n![\"TV](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Shot_04_476jpg-JS989262485.jpg\")
