The staff work at Belfast City Council<\/p>\n

Three council workers were taken to hospital after they were assaulted while on duty in Belfast city centre.<\/p>\n

It happened in the early hours of Saturday morning.<\/p>\n

The men reported they were verbally abused before being attacked.<\/p>\n

Police have appealed for information.<\/p>\n

Inspector Knowles said: \u201cWe received a number of reports at around 12.40am that three men, believed to be council workers, had been attacked by two unknown males while carrying out their duties in the Little Donegall Street area.<\/p>\n

\u201cOfficers spoke with all three of the injured men, who had been punched to the face and neck, with one of the men also sustaining an injury to his hand.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was reported that an unknown male had approached the council workers and began being verbally abusive towards them, before physically assaulting them. He was then joined by a second, unknown male, who also physically assaulted the men.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of the suspects was described as being of slim build with blond hair and was wearing a grey tracksuit.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll three injured men subsequently attended the hospital for treatment to their injuries.<\/p>\n
