John Bishop said he \u201ccouldn\u2019t believe\u201d American actress Halle Berry\u2019s Liverpool admission while they were backstage at BBC<\/a> One\u2019s Graham Norton Show. The pair joined Graham on his sofa as guests alongside actors Chris Hemsworth and Rachael McAdams on last night\u2019s (Friday, January 30) episode of the show.<\/p>\n

Graham began the introductions by informing 59-year-old Oscar-winning Halle that she would get along with the scouse comedian due to her \u201cLiverpudlian routes\u201d.<\/p>\n

Graham said: \u201cHalle Berry, I\u2019m sure you\u2019re going to bond with John because you have Liverpudlian routes. You have family from Liverpool.\u201d To which Halle revealed she had already spoken to John about it backstage before the show.<\/p>\n

She said: \u201cYes, I just told him that backstage, though that was not the conversation I thought we would be having.\u201d<\/p>\n

John, 59,<\/a> responded: \u201cNo could you believe that? I said to her that we could in some way be related. I said to her, it’s good because at least somebody on the couch can understand me tonight.\u201d<\/p>\n

Halle Berry has direct roots in Liverpool through her mum<\/a>, Judith-Ann Hawkins, who was a psychiatric nurse from the city. Judith and her American husband, Jerome Berry, headed across the Atlantic around the time of Halle\u2019s birth.<\/p>\n

When asked if her mum sounded like John Bishop or if she had ever visited Liverpool by host Graham Halle responded: \u201cNo. My family left a little too early, but that is the origin of my routes.\u201d<\/p>\n

John responded: \u201cIt\u2019s not really working this is it? When she said that to me and said, \u2018My mum\u2019s from Liverpool\u2019, I thought, \u2018Oh my god, we\u2019ll find a connection\u2019, and I said, \u2018What part of Liverpool?\u2019, and she went, ‘Dunno\u2019.”<\/p>\n

Halle said: \u201cThat\u2019s where we\u2019re from, I’m very proud of that.\u201d<\/p>\n
