McConnell was linked with a Liverpool return<\/a> since before Christmas, after failing to take the Eredivisie by storm. <\/p>\n

He\u2019s a player Slot likes, and there\u2019s a chance he can play an important role in what\u2019s left of the season. <\/p>\n

That could force the Dutchman to go back on his word to Nyoni<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Arne Slot told Trey Nyoni he\u2019s on the verge of the first-team<\/p>\n

The arrival of a slightly more experienced option in McConnell<\/a> could make it difficult to stick to his word. <\/p>\n

Liverpool are out of throwaway fixtures now, so minutes for the youngsters will be even harder to come by. <\/p>\n

It might be that only one of Nyoni and McConnell can play a part \u2014 a tough decision for the manager, who clearly rates them both. <\/p>\n
