Liverpool<\/a> decided against making any additions to their current squad during the January transfer window, despite injuries to key personnel in defence. Both Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong picked up injuries during January, with Liverpool opting against bringing in a short-term fix at right back.<\/p>\n

They did at least agree on one major deal, with Jeremy Jacquet putting pen to paper on an Anfield move<\/a>, but the talented French defender won\u2019t join up with Liverpool until the summer. In the meantime, Liverpool could still make some additions to their squad in the shape of free transfers, with Express Sport having picked out some potential names.<\/p>\n

Perhaps the most likely of any free agents to sign for Liverpool, Divock Origi is already, of course, a fan favourite of the Anfield crowd. A goalscorer of several important goals throughout his time as a Liverpool player, Origi left Liverpool in 2022, joining AC Milan. It didn\u2019t exactly work out for Origi, but if Liverpool required any urgent attacking reinforcements, Origi could be the man.<\/p>\n

From one ex-Reds star to another, although Raheem Sterling\u2019s stock at Anfield is less desirable than Origi\u2019s. But after getting let go by Chelsea earlier in January, perhaps a return to where Sterling first made his name could be exactly what he needs to reignite his career.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s perhaps somewhat of a surprise that Federico Chiesa is still a Liverpool player, given the noise surrounding him at the start of the season. While a return to Italy won\u2019t be possible until the summer, that doesn\u2019t mean he won\u2019t still secure a move in January, given that certain leagues across Europe are still open for business. Portugal and the Netherlands are operating until close of play on Tuesday, while Turkish sides can pen deals until Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Right-back remains a problem position for the Reds, who are set to be without Bradley for the remainder of the season, while Frimpong continues to struggle with injuries. Serge Aurier is perhaps the best right-back option on the free agent market, given he already boasts considerable Premier League experience.
