Masters officials have asked Jason Day to tone down his outfits for the 2025 tournament following his eye-catching attire last year.<\/p>\n

The former PGA Championship winner has revealed he now needs to get clearance for his clothing choices, a departure from previous years.<\/p>\n

Day, 37, caught attention in 2024 with bold fashion statements at Augusta National that apparently crossed a line for tournament organisers.<\/p>\n

The Australian golfer disclosed that officials have requested to review his planned outfits before this year’s prestigious event.<\/p>\n

He sported a striking Malbon Golf sweater featuring large black and red writing that stood out on the course.<\/p>\n

His look was completed with notably baggy slacks, creating an ensemble that departed from traditional Masters attire.<\/p>\n

The outfit was so controversial that Day was even asked to remove his loud sweater during the tournament itself.<\/p>\n

His fashion choices clearly made enough of an impression to prompt new oversight from tournament officials.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the Dan on Golf podcast, Day explained the change in approach from tournament officials.<\/p>\n

“If they would have let us do what we first put the scripting through to them, it would have been a lot crazier than last year,” he said.<\/p>\n

“But it’ll be toned down – they asked to see the scripting before.”<\/p>\n

Day noted this was a new development in his Masters experience.<\/p>\n

“The funny thing was that they never asked to see scripting of mine because I’ve always been pretty neutral and down the middle,” he added.<\/p>\n

“This year they asked because obviously what happened last year.”<\/p>\n

In a separate interview with Golf.com, Day elaborated on the approval process for his 2025 Masters wardrobe.<\/p>\n

“So we have to get clearance on the scripting this year,” he explained.<\/p>\n

“To Malbon’s credit, they’ve got some bold stuff, but I’m not sure if it’ll pass.<\/p>\n

“So we’ll see how it goes- hopefully they will say yes. If not, then we’ll be going back to the drawing board and trying to come up with something different.”<\/p>\n

Day told reporters that he was asked to remove his sweater during last year’s tournament.<\/p>\n

“Respectfully, you do that because it’s all about the tournament here,” the 37-year-old said.<\/p>\n

“I understand that. I respect the tournament.<\/p>\n

“That’s what we’re here to do is try and play and win the green jacket.”<\/p>\n

Day’s best finish at the Masters came in 2011 when he tied for second place.<\/p>\n
