{"id":741624,"date":"2026-02-04T11:19:10","date_gmt":"2026-02-04T11:19:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/741624\/"},"modified":"2026-02-04T11:19:10","modified_gmt":"2026-02-04T11:19:10","slug":"richmond-council-expands-fairer-access-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/741624\/","title":{"rendered":"Richmond Council expands fairer access scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Richmond Council has expanded its fairer access scheme to include even more activities and discounts, in a move that aims to make sure that nobody gets priced out using the boroughs leisure centres.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It forms part of the council\u2019s leisure strategy which hopes to increase participation in sport and physical activity for people in the borough.<\/p>\n<p>The scheme offers reduced rates for people living in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swlondoner.co.uk\/tag\/hampton-richmond\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Richmond<\/a> claiming benefits at all <a href=\"https:\/\/www.richmond.gov.uk\/services\/sports\/sports_and_fitness_centres\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">six sports and fitness facilities<\/a> in the area.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Discounted fitness classes for adults and discounts on adult court hire have been added to the scheme as of January.<\/p>\n<p>The home-site fairer access membership is being added to the scheme as well allowing access to the selected home site facility for a smaller fee of \u00a316 monthly or \u00a3160 a year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Councillor Alan Juriansz, lead member of sport at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swlondoner.co.uk\/news\/06112025-richmond-council-launch-connect-to-work-as-part-of-five-years-celebration\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Richmond Council<\/a>, said: \u201cEveryone deserves the opportunity to stay active and healthy.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy expanding the fairer access scheme, we\u2019re breaking down barriers so more residents can enjoy our sports and fitness centres.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Councillor Alan adds \u2018we\u2019re making it easier than ever for people to exercise and feel their best, now and for the future\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>People eligible for the scheme can apply in person at one of the six sports centres or apply for a pay as you go membership with better.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>People in emergency accommodation and sanctuary seekers in Richmond can apply for a free concessionary membership.<\/p>\n<p>This provides free access to indoor general swimming sessions, group exercise classes and gym sessions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Proof of eligibility must be provided to apply for this concessionary membership.<\/p>\n<p>This can be a letter from the Home office, a letter from the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, or an asylum application registration card.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Proof must be dated within the last three months.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Featured image credit: Austris Augusts via Unsplash<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Richmond Council has expanded its fairer access scheme to include even more activities and discounts, in a move&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":741625,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[7757],"tags":[748,393,4884,26108,257,26460,69026,93,16,15],"class_list":{"0":"post-741624","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-london","8":"tag-britain","9":"tag-england","10":"tag-great-britain","11":"tag-leisure","12":"tag-london","13":"tag-richmond","14":"tag-richmond-council","15":"tag-sport","16":"tag-uk","17":"tag-united-kingdom"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@uk\/116012093624267646","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/741624","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=741624"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/741624\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/741625"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=741624"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=741624"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=741624"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
