We\u2019re well into 2025, which means Spotify Wrapped<\/a> and Apple Music Replay<\/a> are both far behind us and still months away. If you\u2019re not familiar, these annual roundups break down your listening habits, revealing your most-played songs, artists, genres and more. And if you\u2019re anything like me, you\u2019ve probably wondered what a celeb\u2019s\u2014or even a royal\u2019s\u2014music recap might look like.<\/p>\n

Well, wonder no more. Back in March, King Charles<\/a> gave us a rare peek into his musical taste with a public playlist\u2014and if it caught you off guard, you’re not alone. Even Prince William<\/a> was a little surprised. During a visit to Mentivity House, a youth center in South London, he shared his honest reaction to his father\u2019s playlist, “The King\u2019s Music Room<\/a>.”<\/p>\n

\u201cI was expecting a lot of classical music, so I was surprised,\u201d he said, according to Hello!<\/a>. And honestly, same.<\/p>\n

The King\u2019s 16-track playlist is anything but stuffy. It features an unexpectedly eclectic lineup\u2014think Bob Marley, Kylie Minogue, Beyonc\u00e9 and Jools Holland. Safe to say, it\u2019s not the all-orchestral setlist some might have predicted from the monarch.<\/p>\n

When someone at the event jokingly asked if Charles had snuck in some \u201cGarage or UK Funky\u201d tracks, William grinned and replied, \u201cI\u2019m not sure he\u2019d know what that was.\u201d<\/p>\n

King Charles’s playlist was released on March 10<\/a> on Commonwealth Day<\/a> and along with it came a heartfelt message from the King himself.<\/p>\n

\u201cThroughout my life, music has meant a great deal to me,\u201d he shared in a video. \u201cIt has that remarkable ability to bring happy memories flooding back\u2026 to comfort us in times of sadness\u2026 and to take us to distant places.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cBut perhaps, above all, it can lift our spirits\u2026 it brings us joy.\u201d<\/p>\n

“The King\u2019s Music Room” is still streaming on Apple Music\u2014and yes, it\u2019s surprisingly solid.<\/p>\n
