{"id":7430,"date":"2025-04-10T09:02:14","date_gmt":"2025-04-10T09:02:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/7430\/"},"modified":"2025-04-10T09:02:14","modified_gmt":"2025-04-10T09:02:14","slug":"alexander-skarsgard-series-premiere-in-may","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/7430\/","title":{"rendered":"Alexander Skarsgard series premiere in May"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A trailer has been released for the Apple TV+ series Murderbot, a sci-fi thriller starring Alexander Skarsgard<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>A little over a year ago, we learned that Alexander Skarsgard of\u00a0Succession,\u00a0The Legend of Tarzan, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.joblo.com\/the-northman-review\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Northman<\/a>\u00a0had signed on to star in the ten-episode sci-fi series\u00a0Murderbot, which is set up at Apple TV+. (Despite sharing a title with a recently released\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fullmoonfeatures.com\/videos\/murderbot\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">movie from Full Moon<\/a>\u00a0and director Jim Wynorski, this project is actually based on Martha Wells\u2019 bestselling, Hugo and Nebula Award-winning book series\u00a0The Murderbot Diaries.)\u00a0It was recently announced that the show is going to make its global premiere on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes on Friday,\u00a0<strong>May 16<\/strong>, followed by new episodes every Friday through July 11 \u2013 and now, with the premiere just one month away, a trailer for the show has dropped online. You can check it out in the embed above.<\/p>\n<p>The sibling duo of Chris and Paul Weitz (About a Boy) are writing, directing, and executive producing\u00a0Murderbot\u00a0under their Depth of Field banner. Andrew Miano is also executive producing for Depth of Field, while David S. Goyer executive produces alongside Keith Levine for Phantom Four. Wells is on board as consulting producer.<\/p>\n<p>Coming our way from Paramount Television Studios,\u00a0Murderbot\u00a0is aiming to be action-packed.\u00a0The series will introduce viewers to\u00a0a self-hacking security android (Skarsgard) who is horrified by human emotion yet drawn to its vulnerable \u201cclients.\u201d Murderbot must hide its free will and complete a dangerous assignment when all it really wants is to be left alone to watch futuristic soap operas and figure out its place in the universe.\u00a0A press release describes the show as a sci-fi thriller\/comedy.<\/p>\n<p>Skarsgard is joined in the cast by Noma Dumezweni (Presumed Innocent),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.joblo.com\/tag\/david-dastmalchian\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">David Dastmalchian<\/a>\u00a0(Oppenheimer), Sabrina Wu (Joy Ride), Akshay Khanna (Critical Incident), Tattiawna Jones (The Handmaid\u2019s Tale), and Tamara Podemski (Outer Range).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Wells\u2019\u00a0The Murderbot Diaries\u00a0series currently consists of seven novels and a few short stories.
