{"id":744157,"date":"2026-02-05T14:19:16","date_gmt":"2026-02-05T14:19:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/744157\/"},"modified":"2026-02-05T14:19:16","modified_gmt":"2026-02-05T14:19:16","slug":"datavita-lands-44-9m-contract-to-power-glasgow-councils-tech","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/744157\/","title":{"rendered":"DataVita lands \u00a344.9m contract to power Glasgow Council\u2019s tech"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Scottish data centre and cloud provider <a href=\"https:\/\/www.datavita.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">DataVita<\/a> has inked a \u00a344.9 million partnership with Glasgow City Council to modernise and maintain the city\u2019s digital infrastructure in support of essential public services.<\/p>\n<p>Under the contract, which initially spans five years and nine months with an option to extend to more than ten years, DataVita will provide the Glasgow Council\u2019s core compute and storage services, with the total projected value of work estimated between \u00a380 million and \u00a3110 million.<\/p>\n<p>DataVita said that its work will provide the \u201cmodern digital backbone\u201d of the Council\u2019s IT infrastructure, supporting more than 400 applications essential to the delivery of daily public services.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fstechsummit.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"FS Technology Summit 2026\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><img class=\"lazyload\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/DIGIT.FYI-In-Article-Ads-750-x-210-px.jpg\" alt=\"FS Technology Summit 2026\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe essential services that we deliver to citizens and the value they add to people\u2019s lives are always our first priorities,\u201d said Paul Leinster, chair of the Digital Glasgow Board from Glasgow City Council.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIncreasingly, though, we rely on a complex digital estate to deliver those services, and this contract will ensure we have a secure, resilient platform to support what is an incredibly diverse range of work.<\/p>\n<p>The technical scope of the contract covers running the Council\u2019s primary and disaster\u2011recovery IT environments, managing physical and virtual servers, and providing scalable storage. To protect data, the solution also includes strong backup systems with immutable copies.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to DataVita, up to twenty-five new roles will be created as a result of the partnership, including several apprenticeships, which the firm said reflects its commitment to growing the Scottish technology ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Recommended reading<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are focused on delivering exceptional value and innovation over the initial term and see this as the start of a long-term partnership,\u201d said Danny Quinn, managing director of DataVita.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur mission is to provide a resilient, secure, and sustainable digital infrastructure that will not only meet the city\u2019s needs today but also support its ambitions for the future.
