Scottish Cup<\/a> clash with Dundee.<\/p>\nWilson admitted peace talks had been derailed by the transfer window but he\u2019s ready to resume discussions \u2013 and desperate to avoid walk outs or an empty Parkhead.<\/p>\n
The chairman held out an olive branch on the club\u2019s official channel and said: \u201cObviously on the immediate issues of supporters, the frustrations and in some cases the problem that exist there, there hasn\u2019t been as much progress as I would like to see.<\/p>\n
\u201cAgain, that\u2019s something we now turn our attention to. I spoke about unity, and I spoke very specifically about unity within the stadium.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t expect suddenly for all the issues to go away. What I did ask for, and what I think the majority if supporters would like to see, is unity behind the team.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo let\u2019s sort out these other issues. I\u2019m in no dismissing them, or marginalising them. On the contrary, I want to engage with them. But in the short term it\u2019s imperative to support the team. It\u2019s up to each individual, whether a boycott, outside or inside the stadium helps that. It\u2019s up for people to judge.<\/p>\n
\u201cI accept there hasn\u2019t been as much engagement as I would have liked over the past month, for a range of reasons, but most recently mainly because of the focus on the transfer window. But we can also say we have reached out to every supporters group and I hope these meetings will take place in the next week or so.<\/p>\n
\u201cLet\u2019s see if we can go forward. There\u2019s no reluctance on my part to engage and I hope that can be put in to practise soon.<\/p>\n
\u201cUnity inside the stadium is one thing. We\u2019re not going to agree on some of these issues but we can talk about them.<\/p>\n
\u201cDon\u2019t let it distract from what is going on inside the stadium, that\u2019s all I am asking for.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t see any insurmountable barriers. I want to see a full Celtic Park with the atmosphere and everyone behind the team, which I have experienced over the decades I have been going to Celtic Park.\u201d<\/p>\n
Wilson admitted he\u2019s aware a section of supporters HATE the board \u2013 but he\u2019s convinced they can find common ground.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cI was in the centre of Glasgow last night, I bumped into four young guys who I guess would have been saying at the weekend they hated the board.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey recognised me, we had a good conversation and I explained some of our difficulties in addressing some of these issues.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey put across their point of view and at the end of the day they said, thanks for listening.<\/p>\n
\u201cI said, thanks for talking to me. If I could do that with every Celtic supporter inside the ground, we\u2019d reach the same respectful, mutually respectful conclusion.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s not quite possible but it\u2019s the kind of model I want to see.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe focus a lot on particular groups of supporters but there\u2019s tens of thousands of supporters inside the ground.<\/p>\n
\u201cMany of them feel the same frustrations about communication, about having an input, about knowing everything that\u2019s coming up, repeatedly, it\u2019s I want to know what\u2019s going on.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s the channel I really want to develop over the next few weeks.<\/p>\n
\u201cOf course, deal with each individual groups, but also deal with the broad mass of Celtic supporters and give them what they totally and reasonably asking for, which is information, understanding and seeing a route back to where we should be \u2013 which is a full stadium behind the team.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s all I want, that\u2019s all I ever want.\u201d<\/p>\n
Wilson insisted Celtic were working hard behind the scenes to sort out the structural mess left behind following the collapse of Paul Tisdale\u2019s recruitment department and the departures of mangers Brendan Rodgers and Wilfried Nancy.<\/p>\n
When asked about his four weeks in the hot seat following Peter Lawwell stepping down he said: \u201cTurbulent. On the positive side, on the field of play \u2013 where it ultimately matters \u2013 thanks to Martin (O’Neill), Shaun (Maloney), the players and everyone behind them, it\u2019s been a really good month, a really positive month.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are back in a situation where winning a league title is back in our own hands again, which it didn\u2019t look like a month ago.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn the transfer window, it doesn\u2019t really matter what I think, but the manager is really positive so we\u2019ve got it all to play for, that\u2019s the main thing.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn the strategic changes, that work is ongoing. To some extent it\u2019s been sidetracked in the last few weeks with the focus on the transfer window.<\/p>\n
