A huge emergency services presence raced to the scene in Ramsbottom<\/p>\n

A man’s body was tragically pulled from the River Irwell on Sunday evening (May 4) following a concern for welfare report.<\/p>\n

Witnesses reported seeing ‘at least ten police cars’ and fire engines at the scene near Nuttall Lane, off Bolton<\/a> Street in the Ramsbottom<\/a> area.<\/p>\n

The Manchester Evening News understands that police and paramedics were called to reports of the concern for welfare of a man.<\/p>\n

A cordon was put in place at the bottom of the lane, in an area of woodland, after the body of a man was recovered from the water. No further details have been confirmed.<\/p>\n

Tactical Aid vehicles were also seen nearby with a footbridge over the River Irwell also taped off by officers at the scene on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service were also called to assist police at the scene. A number of fire engines were in attendance.<\/p>\n

Formal identification is yet to take place, with police enquiries continuing into the man’s death. The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and Greater Manchester Police have been approached for a comment.<\/p>\n
