{"id":746393,"date":"2026-02-06T14:17:12","date_gmt":"2026-02-06T14:17:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/746393\/"},"modified":"2026-02-06T14:17:12","modified_gmt":"2026-02-06T14:17:12","slug":"scottish-government-confirms-extension-of-support-from-investing-in-communities-fund-following-letter-from-ian-murray-mp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/746393\/","title":{"rendered":"Scottish Government confirms extension of support from Investing in Communities Fund following letter from Ian Murray MP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/nen.press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/SG-poverty-disadvantage-investing-in-communities-fund.jpg?ssl=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"660\" height=\"371\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/SG-poverty-disadvantage-investing-in-communities-fund.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-146946\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Following reports that the Scottish Government\u2019s proposed spending plans will cut funding to community organisations doing vital work across Edinburgh, Ian Murray, the MP for Edinburgh South, wrote to the Shona Robinson, Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Local Government, at the end of January to urge her to reverse the decision.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">A reply from Kate Forbes, Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Gaelic, confirmed that the Scottish Government have now agreed to transitional funding of up to a year for affected groups (as reported by NEN last week\u2013 Ed.).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/nen.press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/ian-murray1.jpg?ssl=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"660\" height=\"440\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/ian-murray1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-212412\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Ian Murray, MP for Edinburgh South, said:<\/strong> <strong>\u201cWhile this transitional funding is welcome, it\u2019s not enough \u2013 all it really does is delay the financial cliff edge facing local organisations who are supporting some of our most vulnerable communities.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cThe financial pressures Kate Forbes mentions in her reply are completely of the SNP\u2019s own making \u2013 a result of their mismanagement of the public finances over the last 19 years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><strong>\u201cThe UK Labour government has provided the Scottish Government with an additional \u00a310.3 billion in resources since coming to power.
